Anyone get the new PS2 remote?

I just got the new Sony brand remote, and let me tell ya it is fantastic. Tons of features. For those of you that don't know it comes with its own software (so you don't have to press the X,O, etc..) for the different functions. You NEED a memory card to save the software to. The overall quality is also fantastic. IMHO it puts all of the other remotes on the market to shame. My only gripe is that it doesn't have a power button integrated.

God bless America.

I'm pretty sure it's $19.99 just about everywhere.

Oh, I know. I didn't put the "one" after "any" in the thread title. Sheesh, I'm tired.

I picked mine up last night. Very nice remote. Too bad the software had to be stored on the memory card. It would have been better if it just flashed the bios. 2 mb is a lot of space on an 8 mb card. Using the controller was just not working very well for me. It was a major hassle.

picked it up today and i agree that it is very good. it has a similar design to the ps2 with the groove on the sides. i hope i don't lose the cdrom that came w/ it. ergonomically, it isn't too comfortable and the buttons are small, closely spaced and the dark grey lettering on black is difficult to read. however, it seems to work flawlessly w/ dvds unlike the other remotes that i read about. to me, it worth every penny of the $20.

I got the remote, and I have found myself not using the actual remote packaged but rather my sony trinitron T.V. remote. This is great because you can use any universal type remote and it would be recognized just as any other sony dvd player would.

After reading what you all have said, I went and bought the remote. I had an after market remote that didn't operate very well. This is what I've been looking for. Works great.

I just got this, overall it is awesome, just wish it had a few more things like the ones mentioned above (on/off,no memory card,pass-though port) but I would also like multiple slo-mo options. Also for those who have it, does the new driver fix the lip-sync problem that many dvds have on the PS2, if so, this is a must buy.

I've been playing around with it and noticed two things.

1) I THINK the lip-sync problem may have been fixed. I didn't have time to sit down and watch a full movie to find out for sure but I watched for about 15 minutes and didn't have a problem.

2) You can control games with it too. It's not very practical for most games because you can only input one signal at a time. So, for example, in GT3 you have to completly let off the gas and brake to turn the wheel. But I might consider playing RPGs this way for a more relaxing experience.

I just purchased one and am very upset, on Sony's website it says that it would turn the system on and off, I was really pissed when i got mine and it had no such feature, I e-mailed sony about it and they said they were sorry for the typo and will fix the error soon. Wow!(Sarchastic)

just wanted to thank you guys for this thread.. didn't see it the first time around, and prolly wouldn't have cared either:

i've had a ps2 since launch, and it's never even seen a dvd.. i was considering selling it, but decided to keep it.. took it out of the living room yesterday and put it in the bedroom to have as a game system and 2nd dvd player (also to make room for GC in a couple months!)... definitely got sick of using the controller as a remote after about 5 minutes, so i was gonna post on here today to ask about remotes...

did a search, found this thread, and decided to buy this remote after reading the thread.. just picked it up from CC... $19.99.. they had a zenith remote for $29.99 that i was almost tempted to buy, as it controlled tv/vcr/cable as well, but it didn't have nearly as many features as the sony....

just wish sony could have made it a universal remote (and threw in a ps2 on/off), but, oh well... thanks again, guys!
