What? you guys never played counter-strike?
That has been a little odd as of late. if you saw the picture that was going around the net not more then an hour after the bombing... pretty much making it seem like a video game showing the explosion in the second tower with the words "terrorist win" the image on the upper right hand side of a head shot to "usa"
and the game in general. two teams, one terrorist, one counter terrorist.
objective.. half the maps are counter-terroist try to rescure hostages, the other maps terrorist try to set up a bomb at a location.
so i believe that if the media got ahold of this online half-life mod.. we would never hear the end of it.

I was joking yesterday with co-workers that they will blame Microsoft for making their Flight Simulator line of games. It taught the terrorists how to fly a jet correctly. They even ran simulations where they ran into various landmarks.
The above is all a joke, but don't think it isn't above the government to lay blame like this.

Video games are always a topic people/senators b***h about that have negative influences on people when something goes wrong. This has been debated so many times research has even been done and has proven their statements wrong, and in fact, shown quite the opposite. Games actually improve skills such as problem solving and reading(for us rpg'ers
, and provide escape and relief from social issues such as stress.
I don't think attention will be placed on violent video games anytime soon. But seeing how this investigation will probably take months to conduct until we finally uncover enough evidence to find out who did it. By then in some form or another people will be complaining that these games are a bad influence on people. I'm a big fan of counter-strike but I don't think the government will uphold free speech enough to ban games like counter-strike entirely just because its controversial. There are plenty books and movies that are even more controversial than counter-strike. So I say, unless prime time news CNN or other stations runs out of topics to talk about about or their ratings fall too short, then video games might show up for a show or two, otherwise no.

I seriously doubt it. I doubt anyone can for even a half-decent argument that the terrorists where inspired by a video game or learned how to commit the attack by playing a video game.
When something like a school shooting occurs, and the kid had played violent video games like Doom, it is easier for the politicians to make the connection and the argument, which I still think is a load of crap BTW.

Since some Hollywood studios are pushing back terrorist related movies, I wonder if MGS 2 will be delayed since it features a terrorist-like plot in a New York type setting....

NBC was showing Flight Simulator 2000 and indicated you needed to buy an expansion pack for the specific planes. Also showed the in-game rendering of flying a plane into one of the WTC towers.

Sadly, my joke has turned out to be true. Dr. Bob Arnot of MSNBC (and NBC I would guess) has in fact put the blame on games like Microsoft Flight Simulator. Here is the story:

This blows my mind. It sounds like the people went to flight school in Florida not playing on the computer. But ever so people should be accountable for what they do not video games or movies.

Whenever something goes wrong, everyone turns to the most common scapegoat, which is almost always video games and tv. When are people gonna start blaming the parents for their kids activites (e.g. Columbine)?? In this case, why don't people blame the countries these people came from, after all, they're the ones sheltering these kinds of people.

Well it affected it a little. I have heard rumors that everyone is taking City Crisis off the market, and I know for a fact that it has already been taken off Targets shelves(not all have gotten to it for sure, but they all are supposed to from what I have been told), and heard rumors of K-mart taking them off. I have a sealed copy I'm gonnna keep for awhile just in case.
