Even though the WTC and overall USA disaster is going on today, I read an article that EA Square has announced that FF X will be out in January and not the aforementioned February. There is no date in this article, here it is:

Very much looking forward to Final Fantasy X (also 8 and 9 for that matter, man I need a Playstation). Also, the way Square develops these games I believe XI and XII are already in production. I've heard XI will be online-only, is this the case for XII as well or are they sticking to the single-player experience for that one?

Finally, some good news on the internet!! Anyone know a firm date or pre-order deal??

XI will be on-line and that is the only one so far announced that will be on-line. Supposedly XI and XII will be released closely together, although that is rumor at this point.

As for pre-orders, the date has not been set in January or at least it wasn't said in the news story. I think they are keeping it open just in case they finish localization early and can get the game out before Christmas. This is just a guess on my part and I have no information to substantiate the claim.

Looks pretty sweet so far, square hasn't let me down with an FF (except 8 bleh). I know XI has been in development since X, but I have not heard any word on XII. Mostly likely XI will not be available until they release a broadband adapter or modem for the PS2, but thats looking to far in the future, I want FFX!

Broadband adapter (and narrowband) and the hard drive are coming out before the end of the year here. There are many games on the horizon coming out in November that will use the adapter: Tony Hawk 3 (although there have been problems and it may ship without on-line component), Twisted Metal Black: Online, etc.

FF X will use the hard drive to copy itself so that loading is faster supposedly. However, from what I have heard loading is already pretty fast.

Wow, good news after all the delays announced before. As long as they complete the game the way it should be.
Am I the only one who's a bit skeptical of the online only FFXI? FF games strong point IMO is story and plot, which isn't possible on online only. I just wish they'd rename is Final Fantasy Online or something like that. Online only just goes against everything Final Fantasy, as a series, is.

Anyone else have major eye problems aftering reading that page?
Geez. The background there was painful.

Anyway....I so have to get a PS2 before this game comes out. Nothing yet has really motivated me to get one but I knew I'd have to invest in one as soon as this came out.
