Anyone here get Resident Evil for PS2?
I have never played any resident evil games before so I don't have anything to compare it to but I am really enjoying this game. I may have to go back and get some of the older ones and check them out.

Well I have RE Code Veronica for the DC, it is pretty much the same exact game.
Anyway my buddy is really big into the RE series, he has everyone. They are good games I would suggest you pick them up.

Code Veronica is by far my favorite in the series (I have the DC version as well). If you liked this one you will definitely like Resident Evil 2 which also stars Claire and is a prequel to the game your currently playing. You should be able to pick it up pretty cheap as it is a "Greatest Hits" title, I believe Amazon.com has the PS1 version for only $10.00. Be forwarned though that the control is a little more difficult to use than in Code Veronica but is surely managable and easily overcome by the awesome storyline.
Capcom also re-released RE2 and RE3 for the Dreamcast which will benefit from faster load times and better graphics so you could also get those if you have a DC.

At the risk of pointing out the obvious
...
Since I don't think there's ever been such a big price discrepency between two systems upon which are many of the exact games, any PS2 owner who doesn't own a DC should strongly consider doing so if they're going to pay full price for nearly the same quality (or, in quite a few cases, inferior) ports.
You could easily buy a new DC, RE:CV, and a VMU for $110 plus tax. At the same stores, PS2 RE:CV, like most of the ports , cost $50 alone. If you're planning your PS2 library to include this game, along with some such as Crazy Taxi, Rayman 2, (Test Drive) LeMans, MDK2, you'd end up paying less and having a huge 2nd library of great games to choose from.

I have RE:CV for PS2 and so far, it's great. To me, it's not as scary as RE2, but it's still a great game. I would recommend playing the original RE and RE2. Those games aren't that long, maybe 5 or so hours on your first trip through (most people only take about 2 hours for RE2). I haven't played RE3: Nemesis, but I may pick it up later on. Oh, and don't forget to enjoy the DMC demo that came with it -- DMC is gonna be a sweet game.

I don't have a DC, have no desire to own a DC, and money is not an issue... I'll stick with my PS2 copies of RE and Crazy Taxi

Ive got RE:CV for Dreamcast so i feel no need to get the PS2 version. Anyhow, i think RE:CV is a great game, but not nearly as great a Resident Evil 2, which i feel is the best in the series and my favorite game of all time. Ill tell you one thing, RE:CV is the most difficult of them all.

Both systems have there pros and cons...some prefer one over the other...don't take it personally.

Are you saying that my comments on the game are not welcome in this thread for that reason?

nononono.... your comments are fine. I am interested on hearing anyones opinions about the game and its background, DC or PSone or Ps2. I have never played the resident evil games before the ps2 so i don't know much about the story of the series, etc... .I was referring to comment made by grimfarrow in response to mr. snowmizers comment about pay more, get less, etc... its my damn money and I can spend it anyway i like.

I've played RE 2 and 3 on Playstation, and RE:CV on Dreamcast. I liked playing them. A few of the puzzles got me stumped for awhile, but other then that its good series to play. For me RE:CV wasnt that difficult to beat, but it was enjoyable, and the graphics were damn_sweet.
mljones99, which RE are you playing on your PS2?

Since the whole point of this thread was 'I just played a RE for the first time, I like it, and I might like the old ones', I assumed that there may be others in the same position who might be attracted to a thread with this title. After TWO others mentioned the DC, I pointed out, for any generic PS2 owner (obviously not somebody who already owns the PS2 game) that there's quite a price difference between the games on each system, so if you're about to buy three or more ports, one option would be to get the DC and its original versions for less money to go along with your PS2.
That's hardly controversial. And hardly off-topic in a forum where so many thread are devoted to getting the best deal on gaming products.
Anybody can go back and read how this thread developed... if I had written some fanboyish insult like, "What an idiot! Don't you know you got ripped off buying that PS2 game!", I'd have expected to have seen the reactions of "I don't have a DC, have no desire to own a DC, and money is not an issue... I'll stick with my PS2 copies of RE and Crazy Taxi" and "its my damn money and I can spend it anyway i like."
And there's nothing sarcastic in my response. Sarcasm is saying or writing one thing when you mean the complete opposite. Any PS2 owner who does buy three or more such ports is indeed paying more and getting less, which is not a hot deal. Does anybody disagree with that? Three games is objectively less than the same three games and a system. But that's fine, because it's a personal decision... maybe somebody doesn't want two systems hooked up to the same tv, perhaps.
I suppose it's the "Thanks for sharing" part that really rubbed people the wrong way. Rereading it, I can see it can easily be read that way. For that, I apologize. It was a quickly written two-line response that ended up very poorly worded.
I'll now withdraw from this thread.
