Need some Madden 2002/console advice
Okay, here's the deal:
Ever since hearing of the Xbox, I've wanted to get one....
But in all reality, I think the only reason I really want it is to keep playing Madden....
So here's my question:
I currently own a PS (w/ a chip of course
)....
Should I buy the Xbox just to keep playing Madden (eventually I guess I would buy other games)???
I think I prefer the Xbox over PS2 mainly because of the specs of the Xbox....the only reason I would get the PS2 over the Xbox is because of GT3...but I don't think that's enough of a reason for me to pick the PS2 over the Xbox (especially since I have GT and GT2 for the PS).
I assume Madden 2002 is/has come out for the PS already...should I just save myself $300 and keep playing the Madden series on my PS? Obviously, the graphics and what not aren't going to be as good as on the other systems...but like I said, I don't even know if I would play other games besides Madden (I don't have as much time to play video games anymore...my live-in girlfriend keeps nagging me to always do stuff outside of the house).
Okay, to summarize, here are the options I've come up with:
1. Buy Madden 2002 on PS and forego the Xbox and PS2
2. Buy PS2 and Madden 2002
3. Wait until the Xbox comes out and get Madden 2002
Remember, I currently only plan on playing the Madden series...let's not get into a console war between PS2 and Xbox.
What do you guys think? Thanks for your advice.

The only thing I can tell you is that all versions of Madden 2002 outside of the PS2 version is based upon the PS2 architechture of the game. The X-Box and GameCube versions just get a graphics upgrade and possibly some other changes, but it is all based on the PS2 foundation of the game.
You may wish to stay with the PSX and Madden because that is the only game you'll play. You really need to be interested in other games for a system to warrant buying the system. PS2 does have NCAA Football 2002, also made by EA, that is much like the Madden games.
If you're interested in any other type of game, your decision would really depend on that, but I say stick with the PSX for now, I hear 2002 for the PSX is very good as well.

4. Forget Madden, and get NFL Fever 2002 for the XBox.
I have had it with that fat bastard's game. The AI is too easy and the passing game is not realistic.
Some cool things about NFL Fever:
1. Designed by Microsoft specifically for the XBox, which means graphics better than Madden.
2. No more invisible box around players hands when trying for an interception.
3. Detailed Fanchise mode along with very cool make-a-player mode that is much better than Madden's from what I've read.

Flay,
Did you ever play the piece of crap called NFL Fever on the PC? If Microsoft makes it's next incantation of NFL Fever anything like that, it will not be a very good day to be a football fan. Go check out some sites with reviews of NFL Fever for PC if you don't believe my "Piece of crap" line.

Oh I know NFL Fever for the PC wasn't all that great. But this version has improved on the points it failed at such as the franchise and custom options.
The 2000 version did get an 8.0 by IGN

Okay...I just decided to save myself some money (in the short term, anyway) and just buy Madden 2002 for the PS.
That way, I don't have to have the Xbox right away and can wait to see if there are any games that really intrigue me (and hopefully Microsoft and Sony will get into some kind of price war and drop the price of their consoles by $50
).

I bought Madden 2002 for the PS this weekend....I started a franchise with all rookies (you have to use fantasy draft when creating teams, otherwise it'll probably be impossible to trade for all the rookies you want).
I haven't played it too much, but it doesn't seem very different than 2001 so far...I don't really care, though, as long as I have the new players!
