(I know they're different sports, but...) NBA Street vs. Madden 2002 PS2

I was just wondering which of these 2 would be better. Of course, they're different sports, but they each have strong general points (single player game vs. multiplayer game, lasting appeal, etc.). Anyone care to comment? Basically, I'm asking, out of these 2, which one would you rather have?

Personally, I'd rather have Madden (NCAA Football 2002 does just fine, too), just because I'm more of a football fan than a basketball fan. I have no idea how "good" Street is vs. Madden 2002, though.

NBA street is the best basketball game ever made. It's kinda like NBA Jam but 1000 times better. Mad Dunks, sick Handles, Vince Carter.....

Madden 2002 is just a bit different than Madden 2001.

So if you have Madden 2001 then NBA Street for sure. If not then rent em both first. I'll bet you'll have more fun with NBA street.

Thanks RaptorsFan ( ). I might just get Street and wait a little bit longer for Madden 2001 to get really cheap.

Madden 2002 is way to hard in my opinion...and if you set it to easy, it's way to easy...

so I say Street

I own both and I would put Madden 2002 well above NBA Street even though they are both great games. After a while, unless you have a friend to play against, NBA Street can get very boring. Madden 2002 is such a robust game with the franchise mode, nevermind the ability to import NCAA 2002 players into the NFL draft. Madden just rocks, yes it can be hard but if you play it long enough you'll get a handle of it.

And really, NBA Street and Madden 2002 is like comparing apples and oranges. Not only are they two different sports, they're two totally different approaches gamewise. NBA Street is pure action and has no simulation related to the NBA like the Live series has. Goaltending is legal, you jump up high, you can do mad tricks, etc. Madden is a simulation that borders on arcade.

I've played both games and while NBA Street is a great game, it does get repitive after a while. Personally, I love Madden 2002, but since I own 2001, there's no way I'm going to spend $50 for basically the same game. Granted, the graphics are slightly better and the game speed has improved (not to mention that my Bucs rightfully have a better rating! ), but it's not worth upgrading to if you already have 2001. If I had to choose between Street and Madden, I'd go Madden. Hell, I still play 2001 today.

There's more differences than just graphics between 2001 and 2002. If you have NCAA 2002 you can draft the college players from that to put on your team during the draft. The AI is substantially better than 2001. The cornerbacks no longer get burned easily and the blocking system is far more robust. Running has been fine-tuned as well. Yes, it is an update, but it is an update that is well worth it. Sell your 2001 and put it toward 2002 if you want...I still own both. I just talked about some basic differences here, but trust me, 2002 is miles ahead of 2001.

Hell the Madden series have been nothing but "upgrades" since 1991.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.

That sounds like the way to go.

One more thing. A lot of ppl say that NBA street is boring to them. I still play it on hard and I still have fun. But 2 player is where the game shines when you've already completed everything else.

Too bad it's not Internet ready cause I'd lay the smackdown with Alvin, Davis and Vince.
