Which definition are you using? Goldeneye? James Bond? Sorry, but I don't see how this franchise has ever had anything to do with cerebral activity... Not that Halo will be some sort of introspective adventure into the mind of Kafka or anything - but it just looks like it has an engrossing story - I was following it a few years ago when it was supposed to be a PC game. But whatever... like I said - it's just an opinion... you don't have to get your panties in a twist about it.

When did story come into this? We were talking about gameplay. I would never suggest that Zelda had a deep story. But then, few console games do. One notable exception was MGS, which forwent gameplay (length) in favor of one of the cheesiest damn stories I have ever had the opportunity to be pulled out of the otherwise engrossing game for. "Love on the battlefield."

Well if we're not talking story, and only about gameplay - then I can easily say that Goldeneye (or whatever the second James Bond game for Dreamcast was) was the second worst FPS I've ever played - and I've played them all... Again - just my opinion

I'm a hardcore PC gamer, and playing Goldeneye now is hard, since the framerate is so horrible. But I tell you, when me and my three roommates spent 8 hours playing the game during college, it didn't seem so bad. It was a blast.

I'm playing The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask right now on the 64. I bought it on launch day but never got around to playing it.

Anyway, it's pretty "cartoony," but it's damn hard at times, the control is spot-on beautiful, and it's a blast to play. So if the game continues that trend, I'm okay with it.

Not everything has to be "dark and gritty" to be cool and fun to play. Mario 64 was another "cutesy" game that was tough to beat and a blast to play. My roommate and I spent all weekend trying to get through that game, alternating the worlds between us. He was a hardcore PC/PS person at the time, and we were just sold on the great control and inventive gameplay.

To each his own though...
