Yet another reason to get a Gamecube (As if you needed any more)

According to Popular Science GameCube will be the only next generation console to support 1920 x 1080 lines of resolution, equivalent to HDTV. Xbox owners will be able to purchase an upgrade but there are no plans for higher resolution Xbox games. And PlayStation 2 has no high resolution gaming plans at all. The first game to feature HDGaming will be Star Wars: Rogue Leader-Rogue Squadron 2, with no first party HDGames in the works right now. The article was in the September edition of Popular Science

Pretty cool!

I'll definitely be getting one as well, but not until after the new year. My PS2 is barely a month old, and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to afford even half of the games I want coming out between now and the end of the year!

I LOVE Nintendo, but that HD capability is going to make it harder for me. Now I have to BUY an HDTV, but i want to wait until the hardware issues subside. What am I going to do? Oh and I can't afford an HDTV so I guess it doesn't matter.

I, too, still don't want one. The only game I would buy at launch would be Waverace, which is still my favorite N64 game, and it was the 3rd one I purchased.

I will keep the wait and see approach with Gamecube and also wait for a price drop. Not enough availabe at launch to make it worthwhile for me.

My stance is the same for Xbox......I will enjoy my PS2 until these other systems can show what they are really going to do for us gamers in regards to future titles and support of the system.

Super Smash Bros. Melee is reason enough to get one.

You would be OK with spending $250 for one game? ($200 for system, $50 for game)?

I didn't like the first one, so it's not much of a reason for me to purchase one.

I have no problem spending 250 for one game. I pretty much did it for Super Mario64 and I loved that game so much, that if it was the only game I bought I wouldn't have complained. I don't know how the N64 disappointed you people. Maybe you just aren't as into multiplayer as me and my friends. Goldeneye all-nighters bring a tear to my eye.

You probably didn't play the first one with two or three other people regularly. SSB wasn't that fun single-player. It was the multiplayer game that made it stand out.

And no, just because a game is a "system seller" doesn't mean that's the only game that one would have to get... I got my Game Boy Advance for Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (big Castlevania fan), but since then I've picked up F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, and I plan on buying Mario Kart: Super Circuit when it comes out in about a week.

Super Smash Bros. will be the Soul Calibur for the Nintendo Gameccube. From what I understand there are more modes than that of the N44 one of them being a gallery mode, and an undisclosed ammount of hidden characters. And for someone to skip the Gamecube because they are bitter about the N64 is just plain retarded. If you feel that offended then why did you buy an N64? arent you just as bitter over the Virtual Boy? just my opinion

Into multiplayer? Yes. Goldeneye was good, but I prefer nicer looking, more options, more players, computer FPS to consoles. As for it being a disappointment, there are only three games worth remembering on the N64 (IMO): Waverace, Mario Kart 64, and Conker's Bad Fur Day. I played through the new "Zelda's" (I put that in quotes because it didn't feel like I was playing Zelda), and thought they were just "eh". The framerates on a lot of the games doesn't help it too much either.

Yes, I played the multi player mode, and it wasn't my thing.

Actually, I think Soul Calibur 2 will be the Soul Calibur for the GameCube
