What are the chances of the GBA....
going down in price when the other systems come out later this year? I want to buy one for my nephew but I don't want to schill out $90 for one plus another $40 for a game. I know you can't say for sure, but maybe someone has heard about a price drop or knows that Nintendo has a past history of dropping the price.

i can almost bet my life that there will not be a price drop within the next year or two or more. the game boy color, the predecessor to the game boy advance is still the same price after a few years on the market and the game boy advance coming out. sorry.

Consdiering what you get for $90, I doubt they could lower the costs any time soon and still make money.
As for the games, in a few months the price should start to lower for the older popular titles. I would expect a lot of new release titles to be about $35 for christmas while nintendo best sellers to be close to $25. Pretty decend considering current $40 prices for most games now.

I agree--I don't think you'll see a price drop. The GBA really isn't in competition with the next-gen consoles. Actually, it really doesn't have any competition other than the existing GB Color.
Some game prices have been less than $40 as well, so you might be overstating that by a good $10. Look for online coupons that offer you some savings as well (with a purchase over $100, there's a better chance you'll find one out there that might knock another $10 or so off the price). Finally, remember that the GBA is backwards-compatible. You might be able to pick up a GB Color game for an even cheaper price, and if you're open to used games, there's a whole goldmine of stuff out there.

Don't listen to IC_Freeze, he has no idea what he's talking about. Don't count on their being a backlit GBA coming out ever and if it does, it might not make it past Japan which means you would have to import one and it would cost more to do so anyways but the chances of that happening are slim.

I remember when they announced there would be a backlit GBC (in EGM, a long time ago
Of course, that never happened.
Back to the subject, I doubt the price will drop anytime soon - the GBC stayed in the $65-$70 range the whole time it was out, and only recently dropped to $60...of course, used ones are $40 now.
I don't think the GBA will be in the $50-$60 price range, unless there is a HUGE sale and a BIG coupon
Thats 50% off...and everyone knows, you don't make much/any profit off hardware (selling MSRP).
