PS2 Video Question - Please Help! [pic]
I recently purchased a PS2 (and GT3, yay!), and I have a question about the video playback during gameplay. When playing a game (anygame, I've tested it with four different PS2 games and a PSX game), the video seems to "bend" inwards on the sides of my TV (32" Sony WEGA). At first I thought this was simply a video cable problem (since this doesn't occur with my cable TV, VHS, or Toshiba DVD player), so I upgraded the standard RCA A/V cable to the Monster S-Video cable. This didn't help with my problem. I then put a DVD (Die Hard: Five Star Collection) into the PS2, and the "bending" did not occur when the DVD was playing. Keep in mind this "bending" of the screen does not occur during any other operation of the TV. Also, all connections (except the Toshiba DVD player) are run through the Yamaha HTR-8280 receiver. Does anybody have any thoughts on this? Should I try another unit, or is this standard? I have included a simple picture for reference.
Thanks in advance!

did you try hookng up the PS2 directly to the Tv and bypassing the receiver. maybe something about the signal is causing the receiver to distort the picture on game playback.

I have this same problem but it only occurs when I play DVDs. I get the bend on the right side of my 36" Wega. I think a lot of Wegas come like this - you just need to adjust the settings (I haven't yet).

I would set up your tv using the Video Essentials or AVIA discs. If that doesn't help test the ps2 on another tv to try to isolate the problem. Write back with your results.

Okay, just to give everybody an update here.
I tried connecting the PS2 directly to the TV (using the A/V inputs on the front of the WEGA). This did not help.
Also, I had already calibrated my TV and receiver using the Avia DVD disc, and I always leave the TV at these settings (even when I'm watching regular TV or playing video games).
It seems to get somewhat better when the "brightness" of the game increases during gameplay. Is this a simple setting that can be adjusted in the service menu of the TV?
Thanks!
