Turn-based: Military Madness on the TurboGrafx. It's #1 for just about everybody who's played it!

Dune 2 was classic, but I don't think it has as much depth as more recent games such as Starcraft or AOE.

Turn-based games Civilization II still reigns king, unless Meier can top himself with the sequel.

X-Com 1 & 2 (3 sucked) and the Civ series, with the best Civ being Alpha Centauri, which is the "in-spirit" sequel to Civ II.

Civ III is gonna rock the funky llama!

Either of Sid Meier's turn based games are great - Alpha Centauri, and Civilization are Hall of Fame material. But we shouldn't forget titles like Panzer General and the Heroes of Might and Magic series.

Nothing has beaten Civ 2 up to this day, but who knows, maybe Civ3 will be able to do it. I'm also partial to Heroes of Might and Magic.

Gotta go with Civ 2 as well. I just loved that game. Alpha Centauri is good too, just haven't played it as much. I'm really looking forward to Civ3 and I'm not a huge PC gamer.

I don't think Alpha Centauri was as charming or fun as Civ 2, but I guess that is up to debate. The HoMM series is pretty fun too, although I stopped keepign track of it after the expansion for the second game.
