Puzzle Fighter is my all-time favorite PSX game! I hope Capcom makes a GBA version!

Actually the best puzzle game ever is Twinkle Star Sprites.. but.. that's more of a shooter/puzzle game..

So for a more pur puzzle game, I'd have to say NOTHING beats Puyo Puyo (or any of it's variants: Kirby's Avalance, Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine)!

I'd love it even more if my eyes weren't color deficient. Those green and yellow gems throw me off

It's a Japanese version but there's only a little bit of Japanese in it; when the game is loading up and the "taunts" from your opponent after the match. All menus and in game text are in English. I haven't played the PSX version but the one on the DC is called "Super Puzzle Fighter IIX for Matching Service."

I don't think Twinkle Star Sprites is *that* good. I think it's OK, but nowhere near the levels of Puyo Puyo, Tetris (and all of its variants, like Bombliss, Tetris III, etc.), or Puzzle Fighter.

So have you played it already on DC? It came out yesterday, so mine won't be here until probably Saturday. NCS is reporting that there are new game modes added.

Yes, I have a backup copy and have played it for about a 1/2 hour today. I've never played it before so I can't tell what's new or not, but there are 3 modes. Once you pick arcade mode you get 3 choices: Super Puzzle Fighter II X, Super Puzzle Fighter II Y and Super Puzzle Fighter II Z. I cannot tell you the differences between the 3 as I haven't played them all yet.

update

Just wanted to give a little update after playing the DC version this weekend for 6 or 7 hours:

The 3 modes of play - X, Y, and Z - are all completely different games! X is the normal game, but Y is a game more like Columns and doesn't use crash gems, and Z is really whacked out, where you actually work from the bottom up and rotate blocks around...almost like some twisted version of a Rubiks Cube. Crazy! The games are just amazing, and add even more depth to the best puzzle game ever.

Oh and there's some other stuff like different illustrations and remixed music and speed selections and color-gem-edit and on and on. Must go play more...
