This game is amazing, all the moves you would ever want to do are in this game. Dribble moves straight from the Nike commercial, dunks galore! this game has it all!
If you have a PS2 you have to check this game out.

Somebody posted a link in the "other bargains" forum for the EA.com store that is having a 25% off sale - including PS2 games. NBA Street is 37.49 + 5.99 shipping = $43.48. Pretty good deal for a game that is getting great reviews.

Just gonna repost my question I put in the NBA Street/TMB thread in here ...
Is NBA Street a deep/long (features, things to unlock, etc.) game? I haven't played sports games I've bought in the past for a very long time because the games were only enjoyable multiplayer and pretty much the same time after time in one player.

You asked if there were characters to unlock. After each game, you get to choose a player on the opposing side to join your group of players. Each game you get to choose from your stable of players which 3 you want to play. Michael Jordan is on your team right away and the streetball legends join after you beat them. You unlock cheat codes throughout the game as well and it's like NBA Jam where you have to get the right combo for the cheat. NBA Street is a great arcade baskeball game and is several steps above Midway's offerings in my opinion.
Update: I forgot to say you can also choose "Performance Points" instead of a player from the other side. With those points you can create your own basketball player and use him/her on your team. You should really go out and get SSX too, I hate snowboarding games, but I loved SSX.

I bought this game yesterday but have not had a chance to play it yet (mother in law was here for the weekend) so I am hoping to get a chance to sit dow for a couple hours tonight after my wife and I go see Memento.

Funny, I never said it was Game of the Year either here or in my Initial Impressions of this game and TMB. There's a lot of games coming out this year on all formats that are still to come.

Yeah, it'll be hard for any game (even on the Xbox or GC) to top MGS2 this year. That said, this game is a blast!!!! I'm having so much fun playing it since I got it last night. Yes, that announcer is kinda annoying, but this isn't a game where Bob Costas would be an appropriate fit, so I can let it slide.
After a slow seven months since launch (where I only bought Starfighter, ATV, and Rayman 2) to get Red Faction, NBA Street, Twisted Metal Black and GT3 in a six week span is pretty sweet. Anyone still think there are no good games for the PS2?????

From: You might catch me in Atlanta, looking like a boss
question for those who have played this game:
One of the things I HATED about NBAJam was the computer assist. I know it was an essential part of the game and many people loved it, but to me, there was no fun in being up 7 with 25 seconds to go and have the computer: steal, hit a three, steal, hit a three, steal, 360 degree dunk as time runs out, so I lose by one.
So the question is - does NBA Street do the same thing?
Thanks,
Daryl

Not at all, although the medium and hard difficulty levels are quite a challenge, espescially against some of the street legends and Jordan.

You have to take off from just inside the free throw line. Have your best dunker at the three-point line, set a pick. When you are ready hit all four turbo buttons (R1, R2, L1, L2) and o. Dinner is served!
There is a page on the manual that tells you how to do some of the advanced dunks. Hope this helped.

Hey, different strokes for different folks and all that.
I don't like hand helds and I hated Final Fantasy, but that's just me. All I know is I love this game. I've been playing it all week and am having a blast.

Man, I'm a little bummed. I've had this game for four days and already the best player on The Nets, Bulls, Suns and Grizzlies, as well as the second-best player on the Kings are not on their respective teams anymore! By the end of the off-season these rosters will be completely wrong. Anyway to swap players from one team's roster to the other like in NBA Live?

I think it is a good game. I like the dunks, but the Gamebreaker could fill up faster. Kinda cheap to get trick points on offense when you push R1 and [] and get 1000 points
