I love emulation. I used it recently to play the old Japanese Final Fantasy games for the SNES, specifically FF4 with the translation patch from http://www.j2etranslations.com . Before emulation, I don't think there would be any way to play these games in English over here in the US.
Anyone have any other emulation stories to share.

Emulation is cool, to an extent.
In a time where video games are so rancid and terrible *cough*finalfantasy*cough*playstation*cough* it's nice to have emulators to remind oneself of when gaming was gaming (for the most part) and not, well.. I won't get into this discussion right now..
However, I still think it's kinda.. "dirty"
Sure.. I can fire up Galaga and play all day long, it's.. amusing.. buuut, when I go to the arcade and see Galaga, I get excited, and when I play, I'm out to kill. I'm out to make the next guy who drops a quarter in go "Sweet Jesus, how is that possible?!" when he sees the mighty scribe of "PIX" in the top frame.
I tired playing Super Metroid (aka "The Greatest SNES Game Ever") on an emulator. It's not the same. I don't care how cool it is to play "l33t free gamezzz".. (:
And I recently got a translation of a game that I've been wanting to play since I was like.. 15 or something.. and I started playing it, and I stopped "This isn't right dammit!!" So I sent out for a cart copier ($120) so i could play the damn translation on my real SNES, on my 36" Triniton TV.. it was worth it.
But yeah.. emulation is cool.. n_n

Expecially on my Dream Cast. I put all my carts into storage and just put in one disc that holds tons of games. Waiting calmly for the emulation SNES to get better for the DC. Dream Cast Rocks. My favorite system plays my favorite 8bit nes games, can you say Bubble bobble
