I'm just getting into this gaming stuff folks but so far I'm hooked big time.
Hypothetical question here - Can I hook up the PS2 to my standard SVGA monitor? If yes how?

I *believe* you can. but it would require a PS2 VGA adapter, and I'm not sure if they make those yet. I haven't seen any in the stores......I'm sure they do..The DC had them... ...

there are quite a few brands of VGA adapters that are multi-platform. if you can find one that the original PS system can hook into, the PS2 will work just fine with that one.

I'm back
Thanks for input - I have visited microplay (no VGA adapter) and EB was too busy so I left so it looks like I am on my own.
My monitor is equiped with the RGB (and HV) plugs - can I hook my PS2 using a component AV cable?
As far as I know no cable exists that includes the HV (horizontal and vertical) plugs so I would not plug anything into these.

There's no reason the PS2 wouldn't work with that box if it works with a TV. The problem with not waiting for a straight PS2-to-TV converter, however, is that you don't get the quality jump that similar boxes for the DC allow. It will just look like a really blurry, crappy quality computer game, 'cause component video is an analog signal.
I could be wrong, of course, but that's the way I understand it.

for those interested I emailed audioauthority.com the following:
On 6/21/2001, :
>I own a PS2 and have component video input connectors - I >would like to connect the system to a VGA monitor - can I >use this 9A60 VGA adapter in conjuction with a VGA >monitor? Thanks in advance.
and got the following response from the tech support mgr:
" The 9A60 converts VGA to component video. I believe this is the wrong device for your application. We are about to release the 9A62 which is a component to VGA converter. I believe this is the device for you application.
Watch our web site for the release of the 9A62."
Looks like this is the way to go for those who want to use there VGA monitors for PS2 gaming or wait for the official PS2 adapter.
