While it only took me about 5 to 6 hours to complete the game, I thought it was great while it lasted. And the extra detail in the HD pack is awesome! It makes the game SO much better. (If you take the time to compare the graphics differences between the original and how it looks with the HD pack, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised!) In my book, it was worth the money.

As for continuiung the Half-Life saga, wait until the sequel.

Also, for the person that said they should make a Half-Life game about what happens the next day, you might like to know that Half-Life takes place in about the period of a week or two already.

and in that two week time period freeman, calhoun, or shephard need no sleep, no food, no water :P

all three expensaions are taken place in the same time period. only calhoun's seems to be a lot shorter. the end result..

Sephard is neutralized
Freeman is an agent (or in one hell of a battle)
calhoun is "out of range"

Now as for that "next day" comment. refering to.. well what happens next? Sephard might be in a zone, but they did say they would get him when they need him/find something for him to do. so there is plenty of openings for more on this.

Yup, this is the deal I did. Although I didn't get the Gunman Chronicles. Didn't see that in my ad. I'm not losing sleep over though.

Sorry, Jack, I've been busy with work, so I didn't 'review it' as promised, but it looks like you got it and enjoyed it anyway.

I've only been able to play it for a hour or so. So far, you're right, more puzzle oriented, and lots of walking around in the dark. I like how the puzzles made you think a little more than the original at least the 'coolant/barrel' one. And the TNT one had me thinking a bit. I'd appreciate more action though.

The HD pack is nice. You can definitely tell the difference in the upgraded graphics.

Where did you read this? I'm not doubting you. It just sure don't seem like that when you're playing it.

I managed to get this deal at Best Buy - It ended up being free when I returned another game (they even gave me $10.77 credit) and they were out of Gunman (which I already own anyway) but were kind enough to write me a raincheck (even though it clearly states "No Rainchecks - 10 per store". I'll be heading over to Wal-Mart once they get it in over at Best Buy.

I played through the game and finished it in about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Really stupid way to end it. It was decent though - They shouldn't try to charge $29 for something that should be available as a free download. Counterstrike is worth that kind of money, but it's good that they still offer it free (been playing since beta 3 and beta 5.whatever). The adventure that came free - USS Darkstar (or something) - was better than Blue Shift I think.

Umm... no... you're confusing the length of time it took you to complete the game with the actual in-game time line.

ClarkKentKY 06-25-01 11:32 AM

man finished it last night. WAYYYYYYYYYYY to short. I feel kinda jipped, even though it only cost me 10. Maybe gunman will be longer..

khieng 06-25-01 12:45 PM

Wow this game was sooooo easy! Played it under hard and only had to reload 2 times.

Short, easy, but a nice addition to the Half-Life story line IMO.

Actually, no I'm not. If you pay attention to the game next time you play. You will notice it turns from daylight to night time a few times everytime you go outside. And I rememebr that a scientist said something about being stuck down there for a week.

khieng 06-26-01 04:48 PM

How much does it cost to mail the HL Opposing Forces CD back to them for the rebate?

ClarkKentKY 06-26-01 07:04 PM

only cost me 95 cents...
