So, I have a playstation that I have a mod chip in, because shortly after getting it a few years ago, I found an import Gundam game in a local game shop.
So, last week I read a post about Red Octane and decided to rent a couple import games. The games have code in them that looks for a mod chip and brings you to a screen that says "This system may have been modified. Call, blah blah blah"

So, there goes a wasted couple of rentals.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get these to work?
They are Dance Dance Revolution Best Hits and Dance dance revolution 2nd mix.

i don't have these imports so I can't help you specifically, but if you have a gameshark there are gameshark codes to bypass the anti-mod for a lot of games.

I tried a playstation boot disc that has the option to disable the anit-mod. While it did get a tad further into loading the game, it still crashed out to the black screen with the red crossed circle saying the "modified" message.

When will this region lockout crap go away.

Probably never, but I can always hope.

find a place that sells a pro action replay. it's a device like a gameshark that plugs into the parallel port of the playstation in the back. then go to the website http://www.agscc.com and get the "unlock" code. enter the code into the gameshark software on the pro action replay and it will bypass the mod lockout.

Thanks.. I'll look into that. Will it work though, since there is a mod chip in the playstation?

shouldn't have any problems. my store sells these things hand over fist now, since the mod chips we use are anti-piracy mods. the anti-piracy mods won't play "backups" but they also won't bypass the mod lockout on the newest import and domestic games.

let's just say the markup on these things is insane. we pay a little more for it than that, and we sell them for $39.99!

just make sure that the unit allows you to input and use gameshark codes on it. otherwise, the device will be useless.
