If you are looking towards "Bob's Adventure", you think the graphics look great, the story seems cool, etc, and then you see "PS2Magazine" give it a bad review...would you NOT buy it? Or do you just buy what seems cool to you?

I buy what seems cool. For instance, Confidential Mission for DC has not gotten very good reviews. I like light gun games, I bought it, I love it. The same goes for 2D plane shooters like Giga Wing 2. Most reviews for 2D arcade shooters get poor reviews, but I like those types of games. Also, sometimes I'll buy games I'm not sure about from EB and return them if they suck.

Hmm I'm glad. That's pretty much how I am as well. I've bought NUMEROUS games the got panned...but I enjoyed em. I'm also a sucker for the blockbuster games though..

Actually, I am pretty influenced by reviews (mostly EGM and Ign.com). They've actually played the game, I haven't. If there's a game with so-so ratings and I think it might be good, I usually rent it.

I look at reviews and I will rent if I am unsure. With stuff like Confidential Mission EGM gave it a low rating, but made sure to state it would appeal to light gun fans. Sure enough I like light gun games and loved Confidential Mission. I think most reviewers try to be fair. I was not going to get Castlevania, because I though it would be more like the old NES castlevania games. Then I read the review and found out it was much like Syphony of the Night with multiple paths, leveling up, and game saves. Now I can't wait to get it. Its always nice to hear what someone who has played the game has to say.

I agree that if the type of game appeals to you then get it. I use reviews to give me a base of reference if they all hate the game and talk about things being bad that matter to me then I would pass on it. Most reviews try to let you know the type of market that the game would appeal to.

I almost always agree with reviews, with the occasional fluke. Of course, everyone makes mistakes, so I don't avoid a game until I've seen at least three or four different scores from different sources. That said, I do have the occasional "guilty pleasure" game that I enjoy regardless. Same thing with movies, books, and pretty much everything that can be reviewed.
