I'm with Deftones on this one...while selling VideoGames and systems for more than MSRP is Immoral, it is not illegal. In fact, i would think that SOny could get in trouble for coming down on retailers who sell the product for what they want. That is stronarming of somekind, and probably illegal.

You think that Sony is the only place to get PS2 hardware? You can be "direct" with Sony, but that takes millions and millions of dollars of orders per year. Only the big places deal directly with Sony (Target, Toys R Us, WalMart, etc..) I can rattle off about 30 different video game distributors. You don't have to be direct with Sony to get product.

Well, warranted or not... Sony was a real bear with this store and was quite put out when they did their little package deal. Not only this, but I have heard that they were also forcing them to take down promo items for other systems (X-Box especially) and threatening to refuse sending them merchandise if they refused. I don't know about the availability of other distibutors, but I do know they took the X-Box stuff down pretty darn quick.

Out of curiousity, I went to the local EB and asked some questions about the bundle (which I should have done when I pre-ordered, but I'm in the habit of getting my systems at launch at EB).
MY bundle is actually $195 dollars, not $200 (they didn't have the final pricing of the games initially).
The breakdown is this (approx prices)
$100 for the GBA system
2 Games of your choice (if the games are $40, you are charged that, if they are lower like the $35 dollar Mario Advance, you are charged accordingly)
$20 for the battery pack (which IS the normal sale price for this particular battery pack).
Ok, they ARE making you buy a battery pack and two games, but how many peeps would have only bought one game? I probably wouldn't have purchased a battery pack, but I don't think it's that big of a deal.
I can't blame them for not wanting to sell the system at 89 bucks, that would be taking a loss of about 5 bucks per unit.

On a similar note, does anyone know if Walmart is still going to be selling the GBA for $90? I preordered it a couple of weeks ago, but I went there this weekend and I didn't see the fliers advertising that price. Any chance it's scanned on the web somewhere, or that someone could scan theirs for me? Thanks a lot.
