I had a sega dreamcast but dumped it cuz i needed money and didn't play it anymore. I was thinking about a ps2, but i can't dump 500 into a system for the system, extra controller 2 memory cards one or two games. Is the ps2 coming down anytime soon? And what about gamecube and xbox? Prices release dates?

I've got a PS2 and a DC. My PS2 can piss off 'cus I play my DC 100x more than that P.O.S. Where's all the good games? There isn't any! DC is the best. I'll be playing this thing LONG after it's dead. So I'd say go for the DC but obviously you didn't like it, so...I'd say go for the Game Boy Advance. I'll be playing this more than my DC. Old school...Final Fight while I'm taking a dump. Can't wait.

i know ps2 is coming down to $250, but i don't know when. personally, i wouldn't get ps2 right now since it doesn't have the good games to back it up. i would wait for xbox and game cube to come out and see how they do, then pick out of the three, cuz if you just buy ps2 u might be regreting it later no matter how much u want to buy one now. too bad you sold your dc, that system is awsome, at least it will hold me off for a while. u can pick one up pretty cheap now a days if u still want to get one. or gba sounds like a nice idea too, although i never played anything on it yet.

I'd suggest buying another DC, and giving it another try. Best bang for the buck these days. You can probably get a great package deal on eBay with games. Have you really checked out games like Jet Grind Radio, Virtua Tennis, Crazy Taxi (Taxi 2 is coming!), MDK2, the sports titles, Shenmue, etc.--dunno what types of games you like best. But most games are only $10, a bunch more are $20. Many are also on the PS2, but why pay more? It shouuld hold you over until the XBox hits, although I hear that the GameCube might also be a killer system. I'd pass on the PS2 right now--too pricey (console and games) and the games aren't quite as good as they could be.

Thanks for all the help. I'll probably get another dreamcast. I could probably pick up a whole setup on ebay for under 100 bucks. Don't get me wrong, it was the best system I ever had. I just had beef with seganet. I wasn't able to play nfl2k1, nba2k1 at all because I didn't have seganet. I would have bought it but it wasn't even local to me. The lag was so bad that I never even got to the kickoff or tip off on one of the games. One thing that I've heard is NOT to buy Phantasy Star Online used because it only works on one machine or something. Is that true?

What games should I get too?

You should grab a used DC at http://www.gamestop.com for 69.99
then just keep an eye out for games you can grab many stellar titles for 10.00
Re-volt
Jet Grind Radio
Sega GT
as far as online play goes I haven't used seganet yet and have played many lag free games of
Phantasy Star Online
Starlancer
Quake III
NBA 2k1
4x4 evo
NFL 2k1
all at 28.8 k
so more power to ya gamer grab yourself a DC and try again I play late at night so this might be a secret to good online DC gaming.
I figure that the quality of the games available for the Dreamcast will tide me over well into 2002 until the gamecube and or x-box become affordable.
PSO has a registration so if you want to play online you need a new copy otherwise there are great deals on used games at http://www.ebworld.com and http://www.half.com
Peace to DC owners
unless were fraggin in Quake III
yeeeeeehhaaaaaaaaaaa

I had a poll going a while back for the top 10 DC games but evidently it had been dead too long and was consequently booted off Geoff's system
But the poll results were something to this affect:
1. Soul Calibur (9 votes)
2. NFL2K1 (8 votes)
3. Crazy Taxi (8 votes)
4. Resident Evil: CV (8 votes)
5. Virtua Tennis (8 votes)
6. Jet Grind Radio (8 votes)
7. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 (6 votes)
8. Shenmue (6 votes)
9. Grandia 2 (5 votes)
10. Skies of Arcadia (4 votes)
11. Sonic Adventure (4 votes)
12. NBA2K1 (4 votes)
13. Dead or Alive 2 (4 votes)

Yeah, I know that's more than 10 but there was a four way tie there for the 10th position

I picked up a used DC on ebay about 6 weeks ago and have started buying games to carry me through the year ahead. I began collecting the above games and am really glad that I did. It is an all around variety to get started with to discover for yourself which games you like the best. I have beat Resident Evil 2, Rayman 2 and just finished Grandia 2 (game TOTALLY rocks!!!) two days ago. I'm now completely torn as to which game to start on next: Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Soul Calibur, Crazy taxi, Virtua Tennis, Resident Evil 3, etc.... You should definitely get the DC. I've picked up the DC system, 2 vmu's, a jump pack, five controllers, system organizer, game shark, and 25 awesome games all for right around $400. I could barely get the PS2 system and one game for that price!! GO WITH THE DC!!!

Here is a great deal on a steering wheel for DC
its one of the better wheels you can get with sturdy pedals and shifter and its force feedback. http://www.jcpenney.com has it for 39.99 plus shipping now heres the kicker
you can go to http://www.spiegel.com and get it for 42.95 shipped (it weighs 4 lbs) using gift certificate code 20-6049249
Really for very little money you can start a DC home arcade no joke! PS2 drools overpriced overrated and crappy dvd software to boot!
Long Live SEGA
now about this PSO 2 pay situation>!

DC is the best now. I'm keeping mine. This fall I'm getting a Gamecube, and if you can only get one system, then I would reccomend that. The launch lineup is better than the PS2's current line up, and X-box's early line-up doesn't look that impressive to me either. I'll probably trade in my playstation and dreamcast toward the Gamecube, and not get a PS2 or X-Box. I simply don't have the time to keep up with all the games I want to play on one system, much less on two or three. Gamecubes line-up looks the best to me, I'm a sucker for first party nintendo games, plus they have rare as exclusive, and good third party support from Sega (including sega sports), EA, Capcom (Resident Evil Zero), etc. Factor in the $199 price tag and it's the next-gen system to get IMO.

Love the DC, but I have found that currently I am playing PSOne with the portable screen the most. Still great games, especially the RPGs which the DC lacks a bit.

My wife prefers that I stay in the main living room with her rather than retire to the game room, and so I play there while she watches TV or whatever. I also play in the car, etc. A DC will also hook up to it. Pretty darn cool.
