What game you would recommend buying at this time? I am probably getting a PS2 this weekend and was wondering what game to get with it. There does not seem to be any exciting games out on this system yet. What are your suggestions?

this is has been asked over and over and the answer currently is SSX. Its a great fun game with great re-play value. Also check out Onimusha:Warlords and Shadow Of Destiny. These 3 are my favorites.

Get Z.O.E
its a decent game.. but more importantly... FOR METAL GEAR SOLID 2 demo..
it is ooooh so worth it.
Tekken tag for fighting game.
other then that, the titles are random stuff i wouldn't really be playing

SSX. Unless you'd rather wait for the DVD version, but from what I'm hearing about it, it will be different enough to warrant purchasing both.

Madden still is the game I always play over and over.IMHO it is the best PS2 has to offer.SSX is a very good second choice for me.BTW I have ZOE, DOA,TekTag,Ray,NBALive,NHLea and AllStarBB , Madden still gets me.

madden. i might be one of the few who really didn't like SSX. there's really no 'must have' game for this system (yet). you might want to save your money until something really cool comes out - you might get a price drop by the time that happens.

In your opinion.....
I feel many people would disagree with games like Madden, Onimusha, Shadow of Destiny, ZOE, Red Faction(May), Code Name Veronica(July), Dark Cloud(May), Escape From Monkey Island(June), All-Star Baseball which is a great baseball game once you learn to adapt to the base running and fielding...I realize some of these games are still to be released but as far as SSX goes....I have never and probably will never buy or play this game as it is not a game which stirs any interest within me at all. I am sure SSX is a fine game...but there are many fine games currently available for the PS2 along with a long list to come by the end of this year....
Now if Sega would only port the Shenmue series over to the PS2(which I do believe will happen with the upcoming chapters after the second edition is released for the Dreamcast this fall) or even to the Xbox......

I hate Madden, NFL2K1 on my dc is way more fun. A lot faster gameplay. Madden feels like it takes hours to play. And this coming from an EA mark for almost 10 yrs now.

SSX is the way to go.
I also like TimeSplitters, for a decent shoot em up.
I also have Madden, FIFA, Midnight Club Street Racing, NHL.
I'm big into sports and play against my brother all the time, so I lean toward multi-player games.
I've been dying to get my hands on the MGS2 demo, but Hollywood Video is always out, may have to buy ZOE.
