Why don't you guys back off some. What's done is done and it can't be undone. If he's happy with his decision (which he already stated he is) then so be it. The man asked for some game recs plain and simple. Can't any of you do that without personal insulting, being judgemental, or replying based solely on the fact he got rid of a Dreamcast!?! Don't pretend to know all the circumstances and don't be so quick to judge on the very little info. you have. It's obvious some of you guys don't have a lady in your life. If I told my wife that regardless that I had a DC +15 games I was going to buy a PS2 AND also buy an X-Box in November...I'd be out on the street.

In short...lay off. Either answer the question or don't bother replying.

Mikesu: I hope none of these postings would discourage you from posting further. Most of us enjoy answering the questions actually posed.

Your reply was dead on, FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!! And my lady supported me fully when i bought my PS2, she even helped me buy it. So speak for yourself.

Give it a break girls...

I traded in my PSX1, SNES and I would've traded in my SEGA CD but no store seems to want SEGA CD stuff....I DON'T regret the decision.

I'M NOT SLEEPING WITH THEM.

1. Why keep PSX1 when I'm getting PSX2?

2. Why keep my SNES when it was literally collecting DUST in my closet(so was the SEGA CD/GENESIS)?

3. Where it not for the fact that no one seems to want SEGA CD stuff I probably would've recieved even more credit to put towards my new PSX2.

***4. Money wise it MAY NOT be the BEST deal(trade in) but every little bit helps. I guess that's why CAR DEALERS TAKE TRADE IN'S RIGHT?

So don't let the "NOSTALGIA PIMPS" get you down and enjoy your new PSX2!!!!

Mikesu,
Judging from the games that you and your son like (Sonic, Rayman), and don't like (Shenmue, Resident Evil), I would recommend getting Nintendo's Gamecube over Microsoft's X-box.

I'm generalizing here but for the most part X-box games will consist of PC-type games (I base this on the list of games and developers that will be on the X-box). Most of these games will also be on the PS2 - which you already have.

The Gamecube, however, will be a perfect supplement to your PS2. It will have the Nintendo and Rare produced games that seem to jibe with your tastes - along with all other kinds of Jappanese games that will not come out on X-box.

And as far as holding on to "outdated" consoles go; Do I want to watch Citizen Kane because I'm being nostalgic?
No, I want to watch it over and over again because it's a damn good film and it has no substitues - I'm not going to watch Touch of Evil in it's place; even though it's a good Orson Wells film, it's not Citizen Kane.
When I want to play a 2D Mario game (which is more often than I would have ever thought) I'll pop in my copy of Mario All-Stars on my SNES - there is no substitute, nor will there ever be (I don't count emulators - I hate them).

But if someone doesn't care for classic gaming (just like a lot of people don't care for movies made before 1980), that's their perogative. But be warned, tastes do change over time.

Too bad...

That's too bad that you traded in your Dreamcast... but I'm not going to bash you for it Personally I would've kept it as I'm keeping mine and all 50 games I have for it.

In case you hadn't heard, Sega has signed on to develop games for the X-Box, and supposedly (this has not been confirmed yet) the X-Box will have built-in compatibility to play all the Dreamcast games! This makes sense b/c the Dreamcast ran on WindowsCE... So it would be easy for Microsoft to be able to build some sort of compatibility into the X-box.

But hey, you're planning on getting an X-Box anyway...

... and for the Gamecube and for PS2.

... no, it won't. It'll play the Sega games that Sega makes for it specifically. It will not play Dreamcast games out of the box.

Dreamcast ran on WindowsCE

... no. About 10% of Dreamcast GAMES use the built in WindowsCE to run - which they were programed with (you can tell which games use it by the windows logo that appear when you boot one up). Most of which are crap. Most Dreamcast games use Sega's own operating system for which they were developed with (i.e. the Dreamcast has two operating systems). The WindowsCE was supposed to help developers apply windows tools to make it easier to port over games. All it did was make programers lazy, which is why most WindowsCS DC games are just shoddy ports of PC games.
