Is this game similar to Grandia II in:
Graphics wise? I think Grandia II has great graphics. I think it rivals some computer games! I really with they made a Secret of Mana type game with those graphics/style.
Storyline/Gameplay? The thing I hate about Grandia II is that it's tooo generic. As in, you know what's going to happen because its too much of a standard RPG I guess.. Also, the cities aren't anything! They're nice and some are large, but there's no point except for one in each city. The houses are nothing, too.
Thanks for any help!

I liked SoA a lot more than Grandia. If you like RPGs then SoA is probably the best on the DC. The ship to ship combat is kind of original, and the story is pretty good (although not a final fantasy game). The graphics are really nice. Highly recommended!

I started playing Skies back in January (right after finishing Grandia II). I'm only about halfway through (I got a job that required me to leave home for 4 months and just returned this morning), but so far the game is great. It has a better story than Grandia II. However the turn based combat is SKIES does not hoild a candle to the wonderful combat system in GRANDIA II. As mentioned above, the Ship battles in SKIES are great though

I also thought the combat system in Grandia II was great.
Do cities in Skies of Arcadia have more than the storyline stuff to do? As in Grandia II, there's nothing to do but the storyline thing in each city, which kind of makes me not want to run around the cities.

I LOVE Skies of Arcadia! I pre ordered and got the game the first day it came out, I have also played Grandia 2. Skies is a better over all RPG than grandia, a more engaging, emotional, and grander story line. The only down fall that skies has in my opinion are the ship battles, they tend to drag out, i was in one for an hour and a half. Other than that though, the game is a master piece. The graphics are jaw dropping, the battle system is a blast, the story is great, the characters are well developed too.
the best rpg i have played in a very very long time.
"Pirates of old, defend our cause!"
