I have an XBOX360 core unit from across the pond. This is just the core. No cables or AC are included. US cables and AC will work with this unit. I have had it hooked up and working fine. The drive is region locked to 2. All other functions will work fine. The DVD drive will only play region 2 coded stuff and it will not display on an american TV.
You can use it as a Media Center Extender. It will play download XBLA games with no problems. Only thing you can't do is play anything in the DVD drive on an american TV, Including games. I know most important thing. But if you just need to use it as a media extender it will work fine. It will also work fine with the HD-DVD add on.
I would trade this for 2 newer games.
