I don't know about you guys, but I think this season of NYPD Blue has been the best season in several years. I am glad that they are going on after this season.
I didn't mind Simone or Martinez leaving, but I will miss Russel.

Also I think it's great how they show a new ep every week!

I agree, it hasn't been this good in at least two years. With Esai Morales coming in as the new lieutenant, many more interesting things are in the future. This show has a lot of life left.

Hopefully, having alot of new characters for Sipowicz to react to will provide enough story fodder without resorting to killing off yet another of his loved ones.
The death of his son was an incredibly powerful story. But losing Simone and Sylvia just annoyed me. All I could see was the writers pulling the strings to make Andy dance.

I concur with the opinion that this season has been markedly better than the last few. The writing seems to have more direction than tossing out a case of the week to solve, and concluding the episode with a little dramatic tidbit that ever so slightly pushes the story along. Although I bet many of the episodes have these elements, they seem less predictable and formulaic this year, for some reason.
