Been watching this for about a month now and it’s really cool. Seems to have been shown in the US early last year so I’m just wondering what the reception was and if it was renewed or is the first season "all she wrote"?

Thanks

The reception from critics seemed to be pretty good, but NBC killed this show by putting in a dead time slot (10:00 on Saturday nights). I happened to stumble across it about midway through the first (and only season) and was immediately hooked. NBC cancelled it because of low ratings, but the show's producer must have seen this coming because of the way the final episode plays out. (Don't want to give spoilers, but it was a heck of an ending for the show...very chilling.) I was hoping that the Sci-Fi channel would pick this one up, but no luck. I've been searching Ebay, hoping to find someone selling copies of the entire run.

Thanks all. We’re about five or six episodes in and I too am hooked. It has lots of obvious reference points like Sixth Sense and especially Jacob’s Ladder but it’s so unusual to see genuinely chilling stuff on TV that it manages to transcend them and become a good show in it‘s own right. Would make a nice set on DVD, but then what wouldn’t?

It was a great show. The last few episodes should almost be watched in one sitting. It's really well written and I was really shocked with how they finished off the season.

Can someone tell me how it ended.
I was hooked from episode one. For some reason, I managed to miss the last 2 episodes.

Agree that this wiould be a great DVD set. I would definitely buy it.

I have the final episode on tape somewhere. I'll have to watch it again to go into further detail, but basically...

Spoiler:
Everyone dies. Yep, all of "The Others" die. If I remember correctly, there was some kind of force that was after them in the last couple of episodes. Despite being warned not to let this force tell them what their dreams are in life, they are tricked into doing so. This brings death to all of them in various ways. (Correction: I believe one or maybe even two possibly survived, but weren't in very good situations, to say the least.

If I can find the tape, I'll watch it and go into more detail.

I *think* what happened was that the second-to-last episode was supposed to be a cliffhanger, but when news got out it was axed, they ended the show with
Spoiler:
everybody dyinging
. I'm not sure, but perhaps
Spoiler:
Miles and the blind guy survives
, but
Spoiler:
everybody else dies
. The website, www.the-others.com is still active, and I thought the finale really blew, I was unhappy with it.
