This is shocking and sad. Do we know how?

I'm shocked. I knew he had issues (health and otherwise), but I did not expect this.
Buffy was a huge part of my life, always will be, and Xander was an important part of the show.

I read that his family said he passed away peacefully in his sleep from natural causes.
Also read on reddit that he had a heart attack several years ago, and they discovered a congenital heart defect -- on top of his well-known substance abuse issues, it was probably a combination of those things.

This was a tough one to see last night.
i booked him and James Marsters on the TV show I used to produce. I love Buffy and was a little worried because sometimes the actors famous for these genre shows who are in town for a con can be a little prickly about the whole experience.
Not Brendon. He was funny, warm and seemed genuinely grateful about the show and the fans of it. He was just the nicest guy. My wife skipped out of work so she could meet him (we both love the show and it was her birthday) and he was so nice to her too.
The only downside to the day is Charisma Carpenter was supposed to be there too but she got sick and couldn’t come. Would have loved to have met her as well but it was a great day regardless.

Geesh. Watching the original Buffy series right now. This was sudden, for sure.

Sad to hear he's gone. I loved watching the show each week when it first aired and it brings up fond memories of that time. I really wish things had turned out differently for him. With Dawson's Creek and now Buffy, actors gone way too young, it hits hard.

Yeah, it’s not good when stars of teen dramas are passing away.
