Dexter: Resurrection - Backseat Driver (S1E3) - 7/18/25

Dexter must carefully balance Blessing Kamara’s attempts to help get him acclimated as Harrison is drawn deeper into the police investigation.

Third episode continues to deliver. It just feels much more in line with the show than New Blood did.
I like the stuff with Blessed, Dexter planning out and doing stalks to take out the Dark Passenger, some good dark comedy moments again, callbacks to the original series along with some fun cameos.

Another enjoyable ep. Good stuff with the "Dark Passenger." Landlord is a bit annoying. Yeah the Detective sees everything a little too easily but whatever. Actor playing Harrison is doing an excellent job. I think it's a rule that any time you have a cop retiring you can pretty much bank on them not making it out alive.

The detective to me is just so over the top annoying. Has to go into her super sleuth mode with the headphones and groovy music. Can piece together exactly how things happened beat for beat. Points out some semi obvious clues. Just seems like a character they want us to believe is smarter than she actually is. To me she’s the weakest link on the show thus far.

If anyone notices an episode with a scene in a fancy ball at an old fashioned mansion, please let me know. That's my daughter's work and I'm curious to see the episode set there even though I don't watch this (or any other Dexter) show

Other than that, loving the new series and this was the best episode yet. Dexter in the car with the garrote around his neck: "I'm just so scared..." LOL

I decided to give this a watch, as I needed something that didn't require a lot of thinking... at the same time, I was a little curious how the "resurrect" Dexter.
I'm basically "laugh-watching".
Don't get why Angela just dropped everything. The reasoning they gave didn't make much sense.
Don't ride-share customers have to tie their credit cards to their account? While the Dark Passenger probably never finalized a transaction with payment (as he killed his drivers), wouldn't the dead drivers last passenger point to the same account which is linked to the same credit card owner?
Assuming he's smart enough to get around the ride-share/credit card thing, and we see he's smart to use infrared lights under his hood to hide his face - would someone that smart be so stupid to carry a napsack with his employers company logo on it?
I agree about the female detective. Annoying.

So the guy is very careful - except for carrying a napsack with his company's logo on it - which is unrealistically stupid.

Enjoyable episode and been an enjoyable start to the season. A few minor gripes here and there but overall it's been a pleasant surprise.

To me it’s been a lot better than Dexter: New Blood. Just has much more of the vibe of the original show and character. It’s not a great show and not nearly as good as the prime seasons, but it’s been entertaining so far.

The detective is annoying and I’m slightly bored with the Harrison plotline.
The best parts were Dexter basically outsmarting the Dark Passenger wannabe in the rideshare car and his internal comments (you can buy all this on the internet and they offer free shipping too!).
Loved the Masuka and Quinn cameos this week. I get the feeling that Batista won’t survive the entire year .
No idea where the gathering of serial killers at the mansion storyline is headed since they haven’t really delved into it yet

It's strange how much this show feels like the original Dexter series. Way more so than New Blood. I think it might be Harry. I get what they were going for (and liked it) with the Deb ghost for New Blood, but the Harry dynamic is just so much better. I do agree the eccentric detective is a bit heavy handed. I'll be okay with her figuring everything out exactly beat for beat, if she now drops it all after buying Harrison's alibi. It's like if she just would have trusted her instincts she would have it all solved. But because she feels sorry for Harrison and lets it go, she never knows how close she truly was. If that's not how it plays out, then yeah a bit annoying how on the nose it all is.
I could sense even in the trailer The Dark Passenger was gonna get got early and Dexter would pose as him. Because there's no way the Dinklage character would know about The Bay Harbor Butcher stuff. So he had to be impersonating another killer to get the invite. Loved seeing Quinn & Masuka. Like that it doesn't feel like there's much time churning or filler. They are progressing the story quickly. I guess the only part I'm scratching my head at, at this point, is Dexter not wanting to let Harrison know he's alive. I don't think Harrison will have that averse reaction. I think he's going to be relieved he can take that killing off his conscious, and have someone to confide in and help him out of this situation.
All in all another excellent episode. Once we get into the meat of the suicide squad of serial killers I wonder how different that will make the season feel. So far so good tho. And I mean so so good. Glad to have this back.

Sounds like episode 4 which just dropped overnight. I assume she works in production design? If so I’d say she did a terrific job.
