Law and Order: Toronto: Criminal Intent -- Picked up by The CW
The CW network has acquired the U.S. broadcast rights to the first two seasons of Canadian drama “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.”
Based on the iconic “Law & Order” format created by prolific producer Dick Wolf, the 10-episode first season of the Aden Young (“Rectify”) and Kathleen Munroe (“City on Fire”)-led series will premiere on the CW this fall as part of its new 2025-2026 lineup.
Per the series description, “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” follows the Specialized Criminal Investigations Unit’s detective duo, Detective Sergeants Henry Graff (Young) and Frankie Bateman (Munroe), as they investigate high-profile homicides in Canada’s largest metropolis. Their unique investigative skills are showcased through psychological tactics, with a heavy focus on the motives and actions of the criminals. These cases delve into the worlds of high finance, politics, real estate, media, and more.
“’Law & Order Criminal Intent: Toronto’ is the next gripping chapter of one of the greatest and most recognizable broadcast television brands of all time, and we can’t wait to bring this series to The CW this fall,” The CW network president Brad Schwartz said.
Based on the format by Wolf and developed by Rene Balcer for Universal Television, “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” is showrun by Tassie Cameron who executive produces alongside Erin Haskett, Amy Cameron, Alex Patrick and David Valleau. Tex Antonucci is co-executive producer.
“Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” is produced by Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc. in association with Universal International Studios, a division of “Law & Order” franchise producer Universal Studio Group, and Citytv, a subsidiary of Rogers Sports & Media. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handles distribution.
The series’ first season aired in Canada in 2024 and was both the top primetime premiere on network Citytv and the top primetime debut for a drama that season. The second season of “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” is currently airing in Canada.

Here is the Canadian trailer. Season 1 aired a year ago in Canada. Season 2 is currently airing. As most of you know, the CW was sold a few years ago and they just pick up already produced international content.
Does Law and Order: UK even still air anymore? I remember it aired on BBC America years ago.

Great to hear this! I loved Law and Order UK and look forward to checking this out. It's so interesting to see how they change things to fit the culture of the new location. The crime is always the same but everything else is...different.

Caught the first 2 on on-demand. Looks like I can't record this since Hulu lists the original air date, making none of them "new."
About what I expected. CI never had much of a courtroom presence, and this is the same. I'll keep watching.

I saw the first two also and enjoyed them even though I'm a little tired of the whole franchise. The male lead reminds me of D'Onofrio's character from when he was on Criminal Intent.

Aden Young was phenomenal on Rectify, sadly the show was just so small that he never got the recognition nor the success he would have deseverd.
