I have a bird that sits in a tree outside my house all day and chirps the same 5 notes that make the main TLoU theme. It's freaky AF.

It’s just not the same show without Joel. 😪

Nice subtle change to opening credits where only Elle is standing at the end.
Good ep overall

I enjoyed the reveal about how big WLF is; way bigger than Ellie and Dina think. I also liked the setup of the first scene and how it paid off when Ellie and Dina caught up to it. Dark shit.

Seattle, here we come!

Definitely a breather episode after last week's banger, but it set things up nicely.

Short, but game discussion, so I'll spoilerize:
Spoiler:
They really diverged from the game here. Tommy is the one that goes after Abby first, with Ellie and Dina catching up to him. Not to mention they're really slow playing Ellie and Dina's relationship since in the game they had sex when they were in Eugene's hideout. I thought for sure they were going to bang in that tent.

Hey, just in context of the show, not necessarily the game, did Dina hear anything about why they wanted to kill Joel before they knocked her out? I don't remember and don't really want to revisit that episode to find out.

I'm guessing

Spoiler:
Tommy and Jesse will show up together. Though it still changes things since it was the dead bodies he was leaving behind that Dina and Ellie were following. They threw hints, but also haven't mentioned Dina's pregnancy

Having no idea where the story goes, I'm glad we're back on the road. I was tired of the town and most of the characters there. And hey, Seattle!

She didn't hear her talking about her dad, just that they used to be Fireflies. Ellie should be able to put 2 and 2 together if Dina tells her this.

Considering the standing army they've assembled, you figure they could have diverted a little manpower to cleaning up the Space Needle Observation Deck for a day or two? And maybe allocate a little more resources to recon?

Did she note the gang's response when Abby said "And this is Joel"?

To be fair if you're manning an observation post in the highest spot in that area of Seattle and are worried about hostiles you don't want to advertise that you're sitting up there. Of course I doubt any of that crossed the show-runners' minds and they just thought it looked cool.

Not that we saw. And I'm not even sure she picked up on the Fireflies comment bc she was pretty out of it even before getting the needle.

Re: The Last of Us (S2E03) -- “The Path” -- 4/27/25

Saw a funny meme that Dina, played by the actress who played Dora in the recent movie, gave Ellie a map, talked about her backpack and told her to get boots.

I was late to this season for a variety of reasons. I knew someone died in episode 2 and I thought it would be Dina. I have somehow managed to dodge all spoilers so Joel's death was a huge shock but I'm glad they stayed true to the game. I am curious to see where things go from here and I enjoyed them being back on the road. I honestly thought it would take them a bit longer episode-wise to get to Seattle but I'm excited for what's next.

Even though I knew Merced had played Dora, I didn't put 2 and 2 together there. Because I don't have kids. I think I was more paying attention to the fact that Ellie, like me, has a fondness for Chuck Taylor All-Stars.

Ugh, about 80% of the time, when a kid comes into my office with a complaint about foot pain, they're wearing Chucks or Vans. Both shoes just seem to be awful for arch support and cushioning. Considering those Chucks had to be at least 25 years old, I agree with Dina that she should find something with better support.

Yeah, but they look cool.

Some other things I didn't put together, but was mentioned in the AV Club write-up of the episode. I won't spoiler-tag it since it's almost all previous-aired episodes.

Ellie claims the last interaction she had with Joel was walking in from the NYE party. HOWEVER, in that scene, Joel was playing Ellie's guitar. In the next episode, the very next morning, when Jesse picks up Ellie for patrol, the guitar is in the background. It's very obvious the two of them had another interaction that she didn't tell the shrink about. Guessing we'll get that in a flashback.

Actually, her last interaction with Joel was when she was yelling at him to get up and we all know how that ended.

She said this just to get people to leave her alone about it. Probably a personal moment between them that she didn’t want to talk about.
Not everyone picked up on the fact that the guitar was back at her place, but I agree it was pretty obvious. I think it was even in focus in the first shot from inside the room.

In a literal sense, yes, but that's not what Gail was asking about.

Yes, of course, it's something she didn't want to talk about. But it's also an indication she's not "fine" at all with how she left things with Joel before his death, and it's going to be an issue later in the season, for sure.

It's really important, and I'm guessing we may not see it for a long time. Might not even be this season.

There is a big flashback episode this season. I think Episode 5.
