Starts tonight. I have been looking forward to it since it was announced and Young Sheldon wrapped up.

It's been awhile since I've watched Big Bang Theory, but does anyone recall if Georgie was still married in Big Bang, or was it never specified? Regardless, if this show proves popular, I'm hoping we can get a good 5-7 years. It'll be interesting if any of the Young Sheldon costars make cameos.

As someone who has never watched Young Sheldon, when this was announced I was not only confused by the title but also wondered what the appeal was. But I guess that audience (and BBT's) was huge so they don't care that much about picking up new viewers?

Young Sheldon was very much about the family, so this is essentially a way to continue that successful show, but without the main character. All CBS wants is for every single regular viewer of Young Sheldon to become a regular viewer of this. I can't imagine anyone who was not already a fan of YS to even ever considering watching this.

Me too. Last year, Young Sheldon and Quantum Leap were the only shows that I watched regularly, along with SNL.

I laughed throughout the whole episode. Loved the opening tango number. Mary and Meemaw made an appearance. 6:10 to Lubbock

No matter who, or how many others, they marry in the future, this will always be their first marriage.
Mandy will always be Georgie's "first wife" from his "first marriage" and vice versa for Mandy referring to Georgie.

This prequel has the same problem with trying to stay true to TBBT continuity as the last one. We knew at some point George would die weather they showed it on screen or not and we know Georgie and Mandy will get divorced at some point weather it's on screen or not. Although, they did manage to retcon George cheating on his wife in Young Sheldon so they could come up with some scenario where they have stayed together all this time and do some kind of trick for how Georgie had a second ex-wife.

Gave it a try and will stick around for a few episodes at least. I only caught Young Sheldon a few times so I don't have that baggage. Super traditional sitcom formula tinkered with to fit today's younger demographics better. There's an older joke style you don't get from today's networks that much anymore.

Another strong episode. Missy was great. Nice to see they haven't forgotten George Sr. had just passed away and his family is still grieving.

So far I am liking this show. For one reason or another I stopped watching Young Sheldon pretty early into its run (I fully watched maybe 2 complete seasons), but I am a fan of Emily Osment so I had a feeling this show would be an easy watch for me.
After all, I watched the entirety of the ABC Family/Freeform show she was on called Young and Hungry. I also caught a few episodes of Young Sheldon when she first showed up on the show.

I was a fan of TBBT & YS, so I was looking forward to this when it was announced. However, the previews CBS showed throughout the summer had me worried because they didn't make me laugh, and now the first two episodes have confirmed it for me: the show just isn't very funny. It sure tries to be, but you can tell the studio audience isn't even laughing because the canned laughs all sound like they were deliberately added after each attempt at humor. I wish the producers had kept the format of YS, which at some point morphed into a dramedy. I'll keep watching for nostalgia's sake, though, and hope I'll get a chuckle or two from it. I did like the intro with the tango.

Another funny episode this week. The age difference jokes were great. Next week is the Thanksgiving episode with a number of Young Sheldon cast members in it.

Binged watched the series so far. I really do like these characters but I do with they had just continued with YS instead of this show. The focus on Georgie and Mandy is fine. But I'm really not feeling Mandy's family as the sudden center of the show. I like the dad just fine but don't really like the mom. The brother is also just a waste of a character. I really miss Missy and Sheldon's mom and especially Grandma. It was nice to see them but would be nice if they were regulars. Maybe they'll be regular guest stars?
I've really liked the plots so far. Really like seeing Georgie deal with coming up and dealing with having to be the head of two households to some degree. Also nice to see them address their father's death.
I don't appreciate the canned laughter. It was fine on BBT but I really enjoyed the mood established on YS. Much more of a Wonder Years feel to it. Less reliant on outright comedy. Which I really appreciated. I don't enjoy the tonal shift back to canned laughter. But I did enjoy that they addressed it within the very first opening act. But that doesn't excuse it.
I guess I'm in the minority that doesn't really appreciate the Tango opening. I like the opening itself. And that red dress....
But do they really have to continue that musical que through the whole episode? It's just weird and just doesn't fit with the show at all IMO.
So far enjoying it. Really love these characters. More than I thought I ever would. In a lot of ways I'm more attached to them than the BBT characters. YS really was the perfect spin off. Took the original premise in a totally new direction that really worked.

Hopefully this will find it's feet. Both Georgie and Missy were interesting, well cast characters.
My biggest problem with the show is Mandy's mother. She needs some retooling to tone it down a bit. I get the reasoning, just don't dig the character that much. I haven't seen much since it started, but unless things have changed they need more side characters too. The other mechanic and Mandy's goofy brother aren't enough. BBT and especially Young Sheldon did a great job world building. These character need to play off of more than just her family and the Young Sheldon leftover cast.

Yeah I agree. The mom and to some degree the dad are both really one note characters. Sheldon's mom and dad had their specific character traits but had a lot more depth to them. But we're just a few episodes in so I'll give it that. I still really hate the tango theme and especially the transition music. It's like it triggers a stress response or something with the dissonant notes on the strings.
