I wonder who he'll meet up with first in the afterlife - the woman with the raspy voice or sweater-tits.
I guess probably his wife. Didn't know his wife died just over a year ago and they were married for 60 years. |

Sad news but for some reason I thought he died a few years ago. Maybe I confused his death with his character’s death on TBBT.

One of the few "adult" sitcoms I actually looked forward to watching as a young teen. Enjoyed it on Weds nights before Magnum P.I. came on.
His stammered delivery always made me laugh. |

I loved his second sitcom. That had a great ensemble cast.

Plus, the first time the Daryls ever speak, it's to tell their wives to shut up. But the final scene was special. I remember watching it in the dorms and the collective gasp in the TV room. |

I watched some of 'The Bob Newhart Show' as a kid but I got to know Bob Newhart from my parent's comedy albums and 'Newhart'. He does his one-sided comedy in Hell Is for Heroes when he misleads Zee Germans listening to his radio. :lol: [fake telephone conversation with "headquarters" to fool the Germans listening in] Temple Red. This is Lt Driscoll. Wh- Don't send them up here. Sir, I have five men in each foxhole now. I don't have room for anymore, sir Have you tried Charlie company, sir? Oh, I see. Well, sir, there's still a war going on in Japan, you know, sir, you might send them over there. |

I love Bob Newhart.
He is probably the first stand-up comedian that I was ever a "fan" of, all my life. When I was a kid, I'd put his records on at my grandparents farm. As a boy, I loved Newhart and in high school The Bob Newhart Show on Nick at Nite. I memorized his routines. I bought the CDs. I pre-ordered his memoir and poured over the scripts of his routine in the book. Bob always struck me as kind, humble, and not just funny but a person who enjoyed the why of funny. While I got to see greats like the Smothers Brothers in person, I never got to see Bob. If memory serves me right, he was about to go on tour, then Covid. With him at age 90 at the time, I knew there was no way. Still, Bob Newhart is the kind of man I would've loved to just shake his hand and say "thank you." I posted about him earlier on some personal social media and someone from work said they feel like I often come off like Bob Newhart in a good way. Well, that compliment will keep me going! |

RIP I saw him on the Conan TBS Show a couple of years ago and he looked really think and not in great shape.
He did a sketch on SNL where he called a baseball game and had a base hit but was tagged out at 1st base ot made other boring routine plays he got excited but when Hank Aaron hit a home run no excitement So wrong lol |

So with Bob Newhart's death, the leaves Peter Bonerz (Dr. Jerry Robinson) as the last remaining main cast member from The Bob Newhart Show.
"Newhart" still has Julia Duffy, Larry and both Darryl's from the classic lineup. |

The Bob Newhart Show was one of the great sitcoms of the 70's - the Golden Age of sitcoms!
He was great. He had one hell of a run, too! |
