Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
It's impossible to take this seriously (some pun intended) when they continue to put The Bear (and cast) in the Comedy categories.

Also it's weird that Shogun is competing in Best Drama Series when it was billed as a Limited Series. It has since been clarified that it's coming back, so it is correctly categorized. |
Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
I thought the show was terrible, but I'm surprised Kate Winslet didn't get nominated for The Regime.
I was wondering how the hell Elizabeth Debicki didn't get a nomination for The Crown, but that list is missing the supporting drama categories. Supporting Drama Actor: Tadanobu Asano (“Shо̄gun”) Billy Crudup (“The Morning Show”) Mark Duplass (“The Morning Show”) Jon Hamm (“The Morning Show”) Takehiro Hira (“Shōgun”) Jack Lowden ("Slow Horses") Jonathan Pryce (“The Crown”) Supporting Drama Actress Christine Baranski (“The Gilded Age”) Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”) Nicole Beharie (“The Morning Show”) Greta Lee (“The Morning Show") Lesley Manville (“The Crown”) Karen Pittman (“The Morning Show”) Holland Taylor (“The Morning Show”) |

Sorry about that! Copy pasta from Deadline.

Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
I quit The Morning Show in Season 2, but did they really have four actresses who gave better performances than Moeka Hoshi as Fugi in Shogun?

X-men '97 better win and hopefully DeMayo is there.

Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
I will be rooting for Shogun and its actors in all the applicable categories. What an amazing series!

Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
I'm currently watching season 2 of The Bear for the first time. It's great. There's some funny moments in it, but I don't see how it's a comedy. It's a shame Abby Elliot didn't get nominated though. She's great.
I'm extremely happy to see Fallout and Goggins nominated. Goggins is just an incredible actor. I hope Traitors wins for best Competition Reality show. Edited to add: It sounds like I need to watch Shogun after I finish The Bear. |

Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
Once again, everything is consolidated to a handful of shows, that if you don't watch, there's not much point in tuning in.
Funny how that with networks, pay services, and streaming (compared to the old days of just The Big Three networks), there's only like 4-5 shows that are deserving of any honors. |
Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
At first I was really surprised (and disappointed) that Hacks was not nominated for oustanding comedy series (because it surely deserves it), but it looks like it was just left out on the list above. Whew! It got three acting nods as well.

Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
Rooting for Carrie Coon. I recently watched The Leftovers and surprised she didn't get any Emmy nominations for that.
And then even more suprised, shocked even, that she was Proxima Midnight |
Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series:
Carol Burnett (Palm Royale) Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear) Hannah Einbinder (Hacks) Janelle James (Abbott Elementary) Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary) Meryl Streep (Only Murders in the Building) Can you imagine what it would be like to be nominated in a COMEDY and ACTING category, and to beat out Burnett and Streep for the trophy??? |
Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
I've seen two lists of nominations posted online with no directing or writing nods included. :hscratch:

The academy only posted a really detailed list that would be a chore to post so sites have been parsing through it. I'll update the main list when I get back on a computer.

Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
What is the time frame for this?
Some have been released this year and some last year? I don't understand the selection process. |

Re: Primetime Emmy Awards: 2024 Edition
It gets really confusing with The Bear which comes out in June and has to wait a full year-plus to get nominated, after the next season has fully aired already. Other recent June shows like The Boys, Presumed Innocent and (theoretically) The Acolyte will have to wait a year for any nominations.
