Re: Echo (Disney+) 1/9/2024
Finished episodes two and three this morning... and I noticed something: Devery Jacobs, who plays Bonnie, was the voice of Kahhori from the second season of Marvel's What If..?
I like the show so far... I wonder if Biscuits should join Wong and Madisyn for a spin-off series. |
Re: Echo (Disney+) 1/9/2024
Finished it. It was OK. The whole tribe mystic power thing was sort of dumb. Was good to see Donofrio again as Kingpin. Such good casting.

Re: Echo (Disney+) 1/9/2024
I finished it tonight and I liked it quite a bit. It was different.
I liked how the power of the ancestors could be shared between the ladies. And… Spoiler:
… and that end credits scene must be setting up a future DD storyline. |
Re: Echo (Disney+) 1/9/2024
Wrapped it up last night. I enjoyed it but did expect a different story in NY. Kinda glad I didn't watch the trailers before and thinking it was going to be different than what it was.
The ASL/subtitles did force me to pay attention and not drift off at times on my phone... which was a refreshing change. |
Re: Echo (Disney+) 1/9/2024
It just dawned on me that Chaske Spencer, who played Henry, also played Eli Whipp in The English.
When I showed his picture to my wife she told me he was Sam, one of the wolves in Twilight: New Moon. I looked it up, he was 19 when appeared in that movie. |
Re: Echo (Disney+) 1/9/2024
Watched the first episode. Meh, the action stuff was kinda cool, but the rest of the story I didn’t care for.
I’ll probably skip the rest. |
Re: Echo (Disney+) 1/9/2024
I enjoyed it. I liked the representation of both the Native American and deaf communities (and Kingpin’s contacts were really a neat invention).
The action was great, the characters were interesting and it wasn’t a huge world-ending story. I’d love to see her pop up again. |
Re: Echo (Disney+) 1/9/2024
I re-watched the first episode with some friends to get them started on it. Even better second time.

I liked the show overall. Certainly found it more interesting than I initially thought I would upon announcement.

Re: Echo (Disney+) 1/9/2024
Finally got caught up with all the live action Marvel series (including all the Netflix ones) and have to say that I enjoyed this more than a lot of the Disney Marvel shows. I felt like Loki season 2 was a trudge but this seemed nicely paced and was interesting.
I seem to prefer the smaller stakes shows/movies than the "We have to save the world/multi-verse/timelines/entire universe!" type stuff. There is a place for those but Marvel leans on them too often in my opinion. And speaking of tropes...I challenge Marvel to come up with some new shows/movies that don't rely so heavily on flashbacks and/or multiverse/timeline stuff. So tired of watching those two types. It seems like near every Marvel movie or show has one or both of those. It is old. Fuck flashbacks. That being said, the little girl that they got to play the young Echo is unbelievable casting. Not only was she a decent actress but she looks like the spitting image of the adult actress. I also wasn't a big fan of how Kingpin was disposed of in this but whatever, I still enjoyed the show. If I can make it through an entire Marvel series and be relatively entertained and not feel the call of the Fast Forward button, then I consider that a win nowadays. And someone needs to invent that sign language gizmo. That was cool as shit. Hell, I could see that happening with stuff like that new Apple VR set. |

Yeah, I didn't care for that stuff. I think they did something similar in Ms. Marvel, a show I enjoyed much more than this.
I found Echo pretty boring except for Kingpin's scenes. He needs his own series. You could even rotate the hero out each season if needed |
Re: Echo (Disney+) 1/9/2024
This was OK. I honestly didn't care much for Maya, thought she was pretty bland. But Fisk is always a welcome addition to any Marvel show he pops up in.
Loved the Daredevil and Hawkeye cameos too. Action was solid. But again, overall, a mildly entertaining show |
