Fun opening episode. Salah seems like a really good guy. And Hackett is probably a terrific OC despite being an awful HC.
Cool seeing everyone in camp sort of in awe of Aaron.
I think I’m going to be a big Sauce fan this year. He’s got a lot of personality.

Was it just me or did Rodgers look like he was stifling a laugh as Salah was telling his ridiculous eagle/crow story? "Dude, I told you I was on ayahuasca when I saw that."

The 1st episode, which I watched a few days ago, was pretty good.
I loved Liev Schreiber's grand entrance by chopper and Rodgers kept calling him "The voice of God" It's funny when Schreiber narrates for HBO he sounds different than his actual speaking voice.
The Jets do have some charismatic youngsters like Sauce and Garrett Wilson. That was cool seeing Sauce graduate from college. And there was a cameo from former Bearcat Nick Van Exel.

I hadn't thought about Nick Van Exel in any context besides Jay Z's absurdply dated rapped verse on Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" in over 20 years.

That mentalist at the beginning of ep. 2 was pretty damn impressive. “What if you had picked a giraffe?”
The rookie show was pretty hard to watch. The team turning in them was funny.
I also learned that Josh McCown finally retired by watching this episode

I did not like his prediction for the Super Bowl winner and the score.

For some odd reason, all I could think of when watching this was the team spirit, the fire, the enthusiasm all the players have. And yet, 37 of them will be cut at the end of the month. Also, I'm sure the atmosphere is the same at the other 31 camps, and yet somewhere, there's a team with jist as much drive and enthusiasm but they're only gonna win 3 or 4 games at the most all year. Hell, it could even be the Jets.

Back in high school my psych teacher did an ESP demonstration that I fell for hook line sinker rod reel and right arm, because his first subject was my best friend who was ALWAYS 3 steps in front of everyone else and could recognize bullshit before anyone, myself included, even suspected anything. But the teacher read his mind perfectly, to my friend's shock and awe. So it must have been legit. Turns out, my friend was in on the scam from the beginning.

I'm wondering if he had some Jet accomplices.

On the radio the hosts were talking about how vanilla this season is and no footage of the coaches breaking down film and calling out the bad plays and so far they have not covered or showed the stories of the guys that are on the bubble or trying to make the roster and learning about their stories.

Here's a good brief podcast on the history of Hard Knocks and a look Behind the Scenes. It's pretty remarkable they're able to pull it off as quickly as they produce it without it being a shitshow worthy of the Jets Rookie Class production.

Is that Tirico and Collinsworth since Al Michaels is on Amazon?
It would be nothing compared to Tony Kornheiser sucking off Brett Favre.

First, I like this season of Hard Knocks so far - it's been pretty entertaining.
That said, it's kind of disappointing that this series has seem to have abandoned showing a handful of rookies and then go through the "will they or won't they make the team?" routine. That used to be at the heart of this show, and in the last few seasons they've moved away from that to showcase the "name" players on each team.

Yout can blame the league for that. There used to be multiple cut down days, now there's only the one at the end of preseason. They keep the max 90 until then.

It's good to see Zach Wilson hasn't lost the locker room; after his 35 yard scramble in the game against the Bucs all the players were roasting Aaron Rodgers that he couldn't do that anymore. Wilson kinda threw the team under the bus last year during the losing streak, but it seems to all be in the past. Of course, that could all be because they know as long as Rodgers stays healthy, Zach Wilson doesn't even need to bring his helmet on game day. It might be a different story if he's asked to lead the team again.
For those of you who like the player profiles followed by finding out if they make the team, USA Today's Jets Wire does not have Tanzel Smart on the predicted 53-man roster.

They're my team as you're all painfully aware, but man I thought Aaron Rodgers was being a pussy for complaining that a Giants' defender dare attempt to sack him. When he said "I don't even know who you are, 55", I wish the Giants would have said, "you will when you're in your ice bath later tonight".
Loved when Randall Cobb's toddler had to be prodded to cheer on his dad and the defense, then completely on his own he dropped a "J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!" chant.

It's been a fun season. I think Aaron Rodgers is looking a lot better than I expected he would, it's quite the image makeover.
Really remarkable how quickly they put each episode together and how professionally it all turns out. Great series.

There were a couple of moments in Episode 4 where I thought the "real" Rodgers seeped through (at least the one other players talk about). As noted above, when he started getting on that Giants' players case about pushing him, and earlier in the episode when he imploded because a series of plays did not go right. Aaron seems like one of those guys who is great to be around when "all is good" and an a-hole when they're not. I expect the same thing to happen in the regular season when the Jets hit a losing streak.

The Giants weren't too happy with the episode.
For one thing, they didn't like seeing the team joke around and laugh with Randall Cobb after the blideside hit, because the guy ended up in concussion protocol.
They also didn't like the exchange with Rodgers and 55, although as I already said I though Rodgers came off as a bit whiny.

Eh, lighten up Giants.
1) Aaron lit into Cobb for that hit. Immediately.
2) Ward's comeback to Aaron of "I don't even know who you are" is one of the worst, least believable comebacks ever attempted. He deserves all the mocking after that.
