Isn't there some domino effect theory that the success of Jeri Ryan on Voyager was eventually responsible for the presidency of Barack Obama?

She was married to an IL state senator. She divorced him, claiming that he was taking her to sex clubs. That scandal forced him to resign. Which opened the seat for Obama.

And the story inevitably leads one to ponder how horny do you have to be to not be satisfied with being married to Jeri Ryan?

Thelma Lou never made a fucking minute of sense.

She's far to good looking for Barney. She puts up with him cheating on her with Juanita. Barney is kind of an all around asshole.

Plus, she owns her own house (while Barney rents a room) and it's never mentioned that she works or what she does.

Actually, it was addressed when Ron Howard hosted SNL back in the 80s and they did the sketch "Opie's Back".

His resignation was from the Republican ticket for US Senator in the summer of '04. I mean it's Illinois so Obama was almost certainly going to win that race in November anyway, but the scramble for a replacement led the Illinois Republican party to draft Alan Keyes so that locked that up.

As for the topic, adding Joan Collins to Dynasty in season 2 fundamentally changed the entire trajectory of the show.

I stand corrected. But the greater issue is still how Jeri could not be enough for this guy?

She's always out there being a focal point in the course of human history.

I wish it was online, it's great. Especially when Ron Howard mistakenly calls Floyd (played by Eddie Murphy) Otis, Eddie corrects him, and Ron ad-libs "I told you I couldn't recognize you!".

Oh, and the musical guest that ep was The Clash. Man those were good days of television.
