The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (AMC)

The newest series in The Walking Dead Universe is in production and coming soon to AMC and AMC+. Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) journeys across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home.

No actual footage, just a quick "In production" teaser

Probably not coming out until 2024

The show names of "Daryl Dixon" and "Rick & Michonne" are just terrible.
They couldn't get a tiny bit creative like they did with "Dead City"?

They should call it, "Darryl's Dick Riders". The obsession with this character is bewildering....

Wait, are you asking for a tiny bit of creativity from this franchise? That ship sailed with Fear the waking dead the moment they got off the ummm boat. :horse:

Who's going to watch this?

The original show ran these characters into the ground. Fear was pretty much just a retread with different backgrounds. Dead City would make an interesting movie, but an entire series? Same goes for these shows. Plus, I've had my fill of Rick Grimes making a total mess of everything and begging to "talk about it" when he's caught red handed.

I'll take a look at Rick & Michonne being a limited series. I would be curious about Dead City if it is not dragged out too much. Doing all these spins off so far past it's prime seems a little odd.

Can’t wait for the first of what I’m sure will be many scenes where they try and sell the audience that any of these title characters are in even the slightest danger of meeting their demise. Plot armor helped ruin the original series and now it is right in the show’s title.

People are watching the Neagan and Maggie show so, lots? AMC+ release the episodes 3 days early.

I wonder if Talking Dead is truly dead. I'm surprised they didn't bring it back for the FTWD or Dead City premieres. Not sure if it was a show that used WGA writers or not. I could imagine them bringing it back for the DD or R&M show.

I think Talking Dead is probably done.

If they were still going to do it, even occasionally, they probably would have done at least one episode for Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 or the premiere of Dead City. Their twitter account has been silent since The Walking Dead's final episode, too.

But you never know, they might do an occasional one-off for something like Dead City's season finale, Fear the Walking Dead's series finale, Daryl Dixon, or Rick and Michonne.

Melissa McBride will be guest starring on Daryl Dixon. JDM got the word. He and Reedus and buddies. This is an image that was apparently from the shoot in France.

AMC network as a whole is not doing super great so this could have been part of the pull back in spending they were talking about when they canned a few shows mid shooting. Can’t imagine it’s expensive but who knows.

That's nice and all, but Daryl, Carol, Negan, Glenn's wife, Michonne, hell, even Rick were all on the SAME SHOW as it was sliding into becoming an unmitigated disaster. Guest stars mean nothing unless the creative team has been populated by people with some talent. New settings allow for new situations and a chance at a fresh start in creative storytelling. Wretchedly untalented hacks like Angela Kang, Andrew Chambliss, and Ian Goldberg cannot be allowed anywhere near these shows or they will just be more of the same. Note: The World Beyond is in a league of its own as it was a terrible idea right from its inception.

This officially premieres tomorrow on AMC and AMC+ It's also airing on several other AMC owned channels for the premiere. Like Dead City, it's a 6 episode season.

Season 2 is already in production. AMC got approval from SAG-AFTRA to continue filming.

They're still doing The Walking Dead shows?

Ugh. I gave up after the 6th or 7th season.

Whatever. The series concept has lived up to it's name. The show won't die.

DJariya 09-10-23 01:48 PM

Re: The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (AMC)

The premiere episode is now up on AMC Plus. Runs about 1 hour with no commercials.

The running time on AMC is 88 minutes. So 28 minutes of commercials.

Just finished watching the first episode and I dig it. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Really, I think most people are zombied out by now. AMC has been churning out so much Walking Dead content that it's basically turned into a soap opera. There's just not enough meat on these bones to turn it into a MCU or Star Trek kind of franchise.

I'll take a look at a couple of the newer ones because they will likely be shorter. Feels like spin-offs should have been done almost a decade ago vs thirteen years later. (Aside from the ones they have already done) If people watch it then it's fine. Just feels like a late start and Walking Dead is not really over when most of the main characters are getting their own show.
