I hope it's better than the last season.

Nice, looking forward to it.

I used the “A Woman’s Right to Chop” - I have to look at you - argument on my coworker who wanted to change her eyebrows to the fake ones (get them professionally done)

I was joking of course, but I think she changed her mind and will keep her normal eyebrows!

On their podcast this week they teased that they're fixing a giant plot hole from season one with this season. I thinkkkkkk we're finally going to get to meet Charlie's sister. In season one they drop some lines about him having a sister then it was completely dropped. Love this show. Bring it on.

I don't even remember a reference to a sister. I need to re-watch.
At this point it would be a bigger plot hole to bring in a sister no one mentioned after all these years than to forget about the S1 reference to her.

Could Charlie's sister be the waitress?

Apparently, it was in the last episode of S1 - "Charlie Got Molested"... and it seems to be that he had twin sisters who we even see briefly. And he mentioned that his sister told him something, so it couldn't be the waitress because he knew who his sister is/was.

The one minor plot hole I remember from the show is that the waitress never went to the same high school with the gang... and then later they mentioned that she did.

Can't wait for the new season. I've been a regular watcher of their podcast (yes, watch, I'm one of the "creeps", not a listener :) ) and was intrigued by their mention in the new one of fixing the plot hole from S1 (which I now need to rewatch for the umpteenth time).

I remember an episode where the waitress said she was in the same class as Dee but Dee had zero recollection of that. And I think the waitress showed up in the class reunion episode?

Yeah, she was at the reunion.
In an earlier season she was working as a manager at some bar and Dee applied and had the waitress fill out the application, and while about to fill it out the waitress asked her if she went to high school.

Ah, that's right, I didn't catch that error in the episode. Either a plot hole or the waitress lied about going to the same high school and that's why the gang doesn't seem to remember her there?

I think it’s the gag that they also don’t care to remember her name.

Coral 04-28-23 06:19 PM

Re: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FXX) -- Season 16 Thread -- premieres 6/07/23

Yeah, that's definitely the gag - caring so little about her. She definitely didn't go to the same high school originally, and then changed it later.

Shows have these plot holes all the time as they do adjustments to the show after the first season... in the same way they change the characters personalities. Like Parks/Rec - in S1 Andy wasn't stupid, Ron wore suits and had a cellphone (they forgot about that and gave him his first one a few seasons later), Tom wasn't a metrosexual wimp, and Jerry's mom's diary refers to him as Gerald (ie. Jerry) and not Gary. - as he later stated was his real name.

Based on McElhenney's suit, please don't tell me baggy/oversized suits are making a comeback.

I watched 2020 A Year in Review... there's some great stuff in that episode.

I'd forgotten they'd shoved the whole season into 1 month. Hopefully they don't do that this time.

Have high hopes for the upcoming season thanks to going through the original ones again as they do on the podcast and they said on the most recent episode they felt like going through them had upped their game a little bit.

The other minor plot hole the podcast has fixed is the waiter. They casted that actor as the boss that hires Charlie & Mac for the mail room. Then he shows up as the waiter as if he'd never been on the show before. They basically said it's just the same guy. They just have no recollection of him. You'd think the waiter would remember the two weirdos that shared the same job for the health insurance. But whatevs. This show is still the best of all time lol.

Last season had some real good stuff. The Dennis holding in his caught bit made me laugh almost as much as anything in the show's history. So they definitely still got it. I wish they hadn't scaled back to only 8 episode seasons these days but I get it. Quality over quantity.

The waiter is good. Really hope the lawyer makes an appearance this year. He’s probably my favorite minor character and doesn’t show up nearly enough.

I just assumed he played two different characters on the show. Plenty of shows do that.
