Robert Blake dead at 89
I looked at Blake's work and he's best known for his TV work in the 70s it seems and In Cold Blood. The vast majority of his older work was way way before anyone on this forum's time unless you're age 65+ Seems like he's best known for Baretta. Baretta was kind of before my time. I was a small child when it aired. I may have seen a repeat here and there as a kid, but recall nothing about it. Just a cheesy 70s cop procedural. I think he will best be remembered as an acquitted accused murderer. |
Re: Robert Blake dead at 89
Although it was from before my time, I know him mostly from watching reruns of Baretta. I also remember him fondly for his creepy turn in Lost Highway.
:rip: |
Re: Robert Blake dead at 89
I was like 5-8 or so when the show aired. But dude Baretta was cool as shit. Got into top 10 on tv and quit, they begged with more money and input into the show. He came back they moved the show to a shit day and rest is History. Oh and the Bird man, don't forget the bird haha.

Re: Robert Blake dead at 89
Just heard them talking on CBS Mornings about Baretta and his parrot.
It was a cockatoo!! |
Re: Robert Blake dead at 89
When you're talking about acting in Our Gang and The Treasure of Sierra Madre, that's some deep roots.
I don't think I was familiar with his work until the 90's when I'd catch him as a guest with Tom Snyder. And his role in LOST HIGHWAY gave me a fuller appreciation of his career. IN COLD BLOOD is an unforgettable performance. Also really liked "Electra Glide In Blue". Guy was super talented. A shame it was hindered by his personal troubles which went back to his childhood. |
Re: Robert Blake dead at 89
Yeah, I knew him from Baretta and then "The Little Rascals". Didn't know who he was in TLRascals until I was older, but knew which Rascal he was when I found the info out.
I watched part of "Electra Glide in Blue" a while back...he was interesting in that film. |
Re: Robert Blake dead at 89
Lester Holt did not even mention his passing on Friday

Re: Robert Blake dead at 89
So somebody finally knocked that battery off his shoulder.

ABC's David Muir did his usual blink and you miss it bit after multiple teases not mentioning his name all to get viewers to stick around for the 3 black and white still photos lasting 10 seconds. |

Re: Robert Blake dead at 89
Maybe it was covered on NBC and they did the same thing Muir did with 10 seconds of photos while i fast forwarded.
If he was in good standing they probably would have had a 3 minute segment at the end of the show. |
