Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) - Season 10

Yeah, for as much as I feel the show is long in the tooth, it would be interesting if it goes 11 seasons, thus being on the air longer than the 80s actually took. Sort of like M*A*S*H having a longer time on air than the actual Korean War took

Did they ever turn on Happy Days reruns and see characters' 1979 disco hair in the "1950s"?

People that have nothing better to do than research the "timeline" of a fictional show that has consistently played fast and loose with the timeline for it's entire, multi year run.

What are your thoughts on how people in wheelchairs get into Cheers?

Dooku, that there was a not shown on TV entrance to the bar, or that the person in the wheelchair really needed to get their drink on and had a friend or someone at the bar help them slowly roll down the stairs in the wheelchair? The friend could even carry the person, put them in a booth, and then bring down the wheelchair.

If you're sad about the show ending, you can try to get one of the items being auctioned off from the show so you can keep a little piece of The Goldbergs in your life forever: https://propstoreauction.com/auctions/catalog/id/374

That didn’t really feel like a series finale, but not really sure how they could have ended it in a satisfying way.

It ended. That's enough for me, since I didn't have the willpower to delete it from my scheduled shows.

Really sad that this show that ABC kept on past its expiration date because it was a solid performer didn't even rate a one-hour send off.

Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) - Season 10

I was still a fan of the show.
Grew up in Philly and lived in the area until we moved to Florida ten years ago so it was always fun to see a show based in Philly in the decade that happened during my formative years.

While the last 4 seasons was not representative of the original intent of the show we still enjoyed it and got a lot of laughs fr9m it.

It almost was a parody of itself and was almost self aware of its silliness for most of the last few years.

We will miss it just like George Segal said in the last moment of the show.

Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) - Season 10

I had to jump back onboard because it was the finale. I have a curiosity when it comes to finales. Even for shows I don't watch - I like to check out the final few minutes.

It felt like a regular episode with a quick finale tacked onto the end at the last minute.

Surprised they showed old scenes with Murray in it - I thought they'd ignore those scenes. Although they excluded him entirely from the final dedication scene.
The rest of the JTP got left out of the old scenes. Naked Rob and Andy were in 100+ episodes (Matt joined the show late). No Dave Kim anywhere in the episode.

Re: The Goldbergs (ABC) - Season 10

They didn't find out it was going to be the final episode until a few days after it was shot. So it wasn't really intended as a series finale although they had to know that it was a possibility.

Now that era of Wed night ABC comedies with the Goldbergs, The Middle, and Modern Family is officially over.

I need to avoid this forum since I've not seen the final episode (I watch on Hulu). Hopefully tonight or sometime this weekend.

Yeah, that all tracks, because I think a true finale would have Adam going away to film school once and for all.

As for characters missing from the finale (Dave Kim was mentioned), I'd like to see Emmy Mirsky one last time. The fact that the actress so closely resembles my gf from freshman year of college has no bearing on this. Ok, no, that's the entire reason.

Anybody else click on this updated thread, terrified that the show was being brought back in some form?

Yeah, I was thinking another spin-off attempt... probably with the kids later in life (kinda like Schooled)... or go totally bonkers with a Johnny Atkins/Carla spinoff in the same way The Tortellis was ridiculously spun off from Cheers.
