Let's face it- so far the women in Yellowstone are poorly written caricatures. The only one that sort of had a good arc for a while was Teeter but they have not done much with it.

Some of the men are caricatures, too. The show is a primetime soap and very entertaining, but the writing is that strong.

On this show the only thing surprising about peoples dogs being shot before a political event is that John didn’t order it.

Jamie is the Wile E. Coyote of this show.

I thought that the episode last night was one of the dullest hours of television I have ever seen. Jamies interaction was sort of hysterical. Seems like one of the more rounded and sympathetic characters in the entire show was the big bad from Season 1. Nothing about the whole rounding up cows thing seemed at all interesting to me. other than the land which is pretty amaze-balls. Not sure why but the previews of 1923 look sort of bad.

I did love the little character bits between Rip and Beth on the range. I'm not exactly sure what Piper Perabo's character brings to the show. It's such a strange, strange sub-plot.

A better episode for the season. Monica had some screen time finally. And it shouldn't be hard for Jamie to be governor since John should be impeached any day now.

In fact this should have been the storyline instead. Jamie in a real position in power, against the family would have made a better storyline.

Sunday night is the midseason finale. It returns in 2023.

Seriously, are only like 3 or 4 people watching regularly every week? Seems like only 2 or 3 comment regularly. It feels like discussion of this show has dramatically dropped even though it's still a smash hit for Paramount.

I don't think much about this show even warrants a discussion. Everything has already been said. It has become ridiculously cartoonish, and Sheridan writing every episode while working on half a dozen other shows has clearly become a hindrance. It kind of feels like this flagship show has outstayed its welcome from a creative standpoint. I get that it has become hugely popular with general audiences who think it is "the best show on TV", but it most definitely is not. Paramount Network changed its entire business strategy because of the show alone. How much longer are they going to keep it going just because they have nothing else?

Sheridan is a fantastic writer. He has proven that with the films he has made and 1883. But to me, Tulsa King is thriving because there is a writing staff.

Yeah, Sheridan handling most writing duties is more noticeable these days. Though even at its best Yellowstone always had a bit of Dallas-style soapiness and drama which undercuts some of its power.

Re: Yellowstone (Paramount) - Season 5 - premieres 11/13/22

So the second half of the season is going to be Jamie once again trying to destroy the family and John trying to get a line of credit to build a meat processing plant?

The Jamie story seems pointless since Beth will just pull out the photo of him dumping his dad’s body at anytime.

Re: Yellowstone (Paramount) - Season 5 - premieres 11/13/22

I haven't commented a lot lately because...while I still have fun watching the show, the last three seasons have pretty much been the same conflicts/same storylines told in a different way. It's like they're all just treading water until they can get to the final season (which, last I heard, will be Season 6).

Are Rip/Beth and the ranch hands he picked all going to be part of the upcoming 6666 series? If so, that makes me much more interested in watching it.

We'll see if Yellowstone truly ends. This is Paramount's biggest cash cow at the moment and the linchpin of their creative plans. I expect we get 7-8 seasons at least.

That sort of makes sense to use it as a kick off point given the 6666 is TX but I don't think they would move all those characters to that show. I feel like anyone except Beth/Rip are expendable though so who knows where they are going with that storyline.

Or more specifically, most women seem to have father issues. And many of the men...have father issues.

Expect Yellowstone to be sitting alongside sequels of Friday The 13th and Halloween.

Re: Yellowstone (Paramount) - Season 5 - premieres 11/13/22

Looks like the Midseason Finale is actually this Sunday (1/1) So they basically took one week off. I had thought they were doing 7 and 7, but I guess they are airing 8 and then the final 6 will probably air in the Spring.

It's Taylor Sheridan night on Sunday. New 1923, Tulsa King and this show's mid-season episode.

I just got caught up with the last 2 episodes. I guess John is smitten with Summer again. I did like seeing the backstory on Rip as a kid and him killing someone.

And I'm not sure what Sarah Atwood's end game is with Jamie.

If Beth didn’t know about the train station then how was she there to take the picture when Jamie dumped the body?

Re: Yellowstone (Paramount) - Season 5 - premieres 11/13/22

I just binged this entire show since I enjoyed 1983 and...It gets bad pretty fast After Season 2.

Looking at WIKIPEDIA, that is literally when Taylor decided to write every single episode himself. What? How the hell does he do that? I can see why 1983 and Tesla are so good, WRITERS ROOM.

Quick question since I binged it very fast....is Jamie supposed to be gay or not? Beth seems to allude to this early on, but now he's been with multiple woman, so is he faking or or did they just drop that whole angle?

What is 1983 and Tesla?

No he’s not gay. He’s just a weasel who has daddy issues.

She forced him to dispose of the body in her presence. He didn't tell her that this was their father's dumping grounds too. She thought it was a random place.

So I got the Paramount+ deal but I still can't watch this show? I don't get it.

The show was licensed out to Peacock prior to Paramount plus being created. Paramount later regretted that move. And they are posted on a one season delay. So you won’t see Season 5 on Peacock until months after it wraps on TV.

Re: Yellowstone (Paramount) - Season 5 - premieres 11/13/22

That may have been the least plot-driven half season I've ever watched. I don't know if I can take another 6 episodes of herding cattle while secondary characters talk about stuff they're going to do... only to finally do it with 15 minutes to go in the finale. All the flashbacks and herding are not helping this show.
