First non-ampersanded title of Season 6. There was a rumor that the title of S6E10 was going to be a pair of character names and then it got changed. Not sure if that's true or not but it feels intentional.

I absolutely LOVE Michelle MacLaren, who directed many BB episodes, including two of my favorites from the last season : "Gliding Over All" (with the famous Meth-production time-lapse montage) and "To'hajiilee" (which is the episode that leads directly to the moment "Ozymandias" begins in the desert). Edit : She also directed the pivotal episode "Salud" in Season 4).
This is only her second BCS episode (she did "Duo", the second episode of the series, the one featuring Tuco Salamanca).

And I gotta think that B&W Cinnabun means that we'll be seeing Gene tonight.

I laughed so hard at the shot of Jeff on the monitor laid out on the floor. Too bad they had to recast the actor, but I like Pat Healy.

That closing scene, after the successful scam it felt like Jimmy flirting with stepping back into Saul mode but then deciding to put that to rest. He already proved he still has it in him if needed. He was literally and figuratively walking away.
I enjoyed the episode even if it was much lighter than I was expecting given how serious the Gene opening segments had been. NGL the cab driver recast threw me for a loop and made me a bit disappointed. He was threatening where as new guy was awkward and unsure but it seemed in keeping with the how the episode panned out. Not what I expected but loved the montages and tense execution of the heist/scam. Nice payback when he told the cabbie to "say it" like he had done back in the mall. Also very cool to see Carol Burnett. Loved their scenes together.

All the guesses about Burnett being Saul's mom or Howard's mom or Kim's mom. No one threw out Jeff's mom lol.
I am bummed they had to recast Jeff. The original actor had this sleazy charisma that totally fit in as a random dude that would try to extort Saul. The recasted actor had none of that menace and danger. He gave off more of a buffoon vibe. I would have loved that final interaction in the garage with the original Jeff. Would have had more layers and a much better tension.
I was expecting this to be the Walt & Jesse episode in the BB timeline. So I will admit to being a bit disappointed that there was a light and kind of out of place Gene episode here. But I liked the story they told regardless. Good way to handle being extorted.

Kudos to Gene for keeping his cool while he had to endure hearing Frank eating a Cinnabon many times. The sound some people make while enjoying their food (ie. mmmm... mmm, mmm, mmm) makes me want to stab them repeatedly. Damnit, Jerry!

I was TOTALLY expecting Gene to hear Kim's voice when he was checking out the Saul type clothes.
It was a decent episode but now it really sort of feels every thing is wrapped up. This could have easily been the finale of the series. Slipping Jimmy does one more con, thinks about going back to Saul but realizes he cannot and it is just Gene now, a guy effectively living his life out in jail just in the real world where every moment of his life is the same to the second each and every day
As expected, Carol Burnett was excellent and it didn't really feel like stunt casting.
Not really sure where it goes from here to be honest.

A little bit.. boring? A palate cleanser probably was needed after the wild last three episodes but I have to say the glacially paced Gene stuff has never really grabbed me like it has others and this episode really didn’t move forward anything (we’ve already well established that Jimmy is his own worst enemy and addicted to the game). It was well made and all and not terrible, but felt a bit wheel spinning with only a few eps to go.

Seems almost lost in the shuffle but I gotta say how cool it was that we just got an entire hour long episode of a TV series shot entirely in black and white in 2022. And they used the Cinnabon to perfection.

I feel like very few shows could get away with making an episode like this. On the surface, it's pretty boring to watch a character do something that we've already seen him do dozens of times throughout the show. And yet there was a risk that his plan could backfire like it did and he could be caught. It may be a tease but I think they're setting us up. The ending seemed to be him making a decision but I wonder if he can really resist his urges. I'm thinking this probably won't have a happy ending.

A 50 year old chemistry teacher that couldn't pay his mortgage, and a year later he had a stack of cash the size of a volkswagen.
I'm going to miss this show.

Fun watching Gene see that he's still got it by pulling a con that Jimmy or Saul would have done. The different actor portraying Jeff didn't throw me off as much as the outdoor scenes in the "Nebraska winter" did. That may have been snow but clearly wasn't winter since all the trees still had a full canopy of leaves. Liked the nod to writer/director Thomas Schnauz in the opening segment with the Schnauz Farms sharp cheddar cheese from Wisconsin.
Earlier in the episode, there was a blink and you'll miss it image during the montage of the text "SG was here" which Gene etched next to the dumpster in an earlier season. I think the final scene of Gene in the department store leaving the stylish clothes behind on the rack was another way of saying Saul Goodman was here.
Also I am never going to look at a Cinnabon the same again. The sights and sounds of Jerry eating them with a knife/fork must have been a chore for Gene to sit through..
