I'm only watching this show so I can then watch the RedLetterMedia review. It really works well that way.

An improvement upon the last few episodes. "I'm from Chile. I just work in outer space". You could see that line coming a mile away.

Re: Star Trek: Picard (S2E07) -- "Monsters" -- 4/14/22
I'm more or less enjoying this season. The guy playing Rios is so charming, and Allison Pill is such psychotic fun and of course Jeri Ryan is a scene stealer (which we've known since Voyager).
And it may feel hypocritical to say this after we complain about Discovery doing this, but having Picard face his memories and his fears and try to come to grip with them is actually interesting here, but that's because we've got seven seasons and four movies worth of adventures to get to know him. So when Guinan tried to summon Q, but nobody showed up, and then that guy came in that we thought might be another Q but just turned out to be a Fed? Spoiler:

Yes, we saw it coming a mile away, but I'm more often mad when writers pass up these opportunities than when they indulge in them. So we enjoyed hearing it. |

The writers seem to like having a lot of Easter eggs from Star Trek IV in this season. I was thinking the easiest way to get the TNG crew together for season 3 is to have them aboard a brand new Enterprise F for a ceremony before it is put in commission similar to the sequence in Generations with the Enterprise B.

Re: Star Trek: Picard (S2E07) -- "Monsters" -- 4/14/22
Given how superficial and shallow the writers are with Jean-Luc Picard's past, I was a bit surprised the young boy version wasn't depicted as bald.

Re: Star Trek: Picard (S2E07) -- "Monsters" -- 4/14/22
Karnes was great on The Shield.
I expected him to be a Q and he even seemed to channel Q in his tone for a moment. |

Re: Star Trek: Picard (S2E07) -- "Monsters" -- 4/14/22
RLM are much more than hate watchers. They are legit Trek fans and know the franchise very well. And they’re very entertaining in my opinion.
They were actually cautiously optimistic after the first episode of this season. But then it devolved into a convoluted mess as expected. |
Re: Star Trek: Picard (S2E07) -- "Monsters" -- 4/14/22
yes they are long time fans that Trek meant something special in their lives, and they hate, like I do , how it has devolved to utter crap, this episode was the worst episode of Trek in any series, including that god awful Salamander episode of Voyager, and Move along Home in DS9, and Code of Honor in TNG. Picard is such a convoluted mess it really seems like they are just making it up as they go along,

Where is Jean-Luc's brother when he and his mother are doing their story time nonsense? You'd think she'd want to teach both her sons whatever she's trying to do.

Re: Star Trek: Picard (S2E07) -- "Monsters" -- 4/14/22
I haven’t watched the last few episodes yet, but this show is absolutely garbage. Total dumpster fire.
It sincerely comes across as something written by people who don’t really like Star Trek or it’s characters, and are aiming this show at an audience who doesn’t care about Star Trek and probably have never watched an episode, but know of characters like Picard. Having read about things that happen in the last few episodes and watching RLM talk about it, who are far more of fans than anyone involved in the show I’ve seen all I need to. Fuck Alex Kurtzman and modern Star Trek. |

”No… I’m from Chile, but I work in outer space.” 🤣🤣🤣 |

Sorry to be a bitch but I'm a writer and I get so annoyed by 'fans' who do nothing but complain whenever they don't think something isn't up to their impossible to achieve standards. I've posted this before, but please, all you hate watchers...pick up a pencil/keyboard/dictation software and give it a shot.... |
