The Challenge: USA (CBS) - premieres 7/6/22
The endlessly mutable reality franchise that is The Challenge is expanding again. The MTV Entertainment Studios series, which airs in various forms on MTV and Paramount+, will get another iteration on CBS in the summer. And in keeping with the self-perpetuating nature of the franchise, the CBS season will in turn feed into a Paramount+ show bringing together stars of several Challenge series from around the world. The CBS edition of The Challenge will bring together prior reality stars from the network’s franchises (Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race) and pit them in a series of competitions. The winners of the CBS show will then take part in Paramount+’s The Challenge: War of the Worlds, which will bring together winners from versions of the show in Argentina, Australia and the U.K. to crown the first ever Challenge world champs. |

Looks like someone has been reading my posts here. Thought it would run on P+ if it happened though.

I wonder why not have a few who have already been on The Challenge who came from CBS shows.

It seems weird that they're having so many people from Love Island now that Love Island will be a show on Peacock. The new season might even be running at the same time as this.

CBS will pair its long-running franchise Big Brother this summer with The Challenge: USA, a spinoff of MTV’s hugely successful IP. Both shows will premiere on Wednesday, July 6. BB opens the night with a 90-minute episode at 8 p.m., followed by the 90-minute premiere of the previously announced Challenge spinoff. The latter reality show will bring together fan favorites from CBS reality shows like Survivor, BB, The Amazing Race and Love Island to “compete in one of the most unpredictable and demanding games of their lives, living in a constant state of paranoia and unable to trust anyone but themselves,” according to the network. Following its premiere, The Challenge: USA will air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET. In addition to the $500,000 prize, the cast will be competing for a spot on The Challenge: World Championship (working title) that will stream on Paramount+. T.J. Lavin serves as host while Julie Pizzi and Justin Booth are executive producers of the show that’s from MTV Entertainment Studios and Bunim/Murray Prods. |

I'll be watching. All Stars will be winding down by then and we probably won't get a MTV Challenge until this fall at the earliest (The cast is in quarantine for season 38 now, but they haven't filmed anything).

At least it is not on Paramount +

Re: The Challenge: USA (CBS) - premieres 7/6/22
I'm glad that TJ Lavin is hosting the show. I was afraid they might want a "bigger name" or someone they considered more "Female Friendly" (but not in a Matthew Morrisson kind of way).

Have any of those people made an appearance on the main show before? I still think they should've put a few Big Brother / Survivor people that have become well known on The Challenge (Kaycee, The Goof, etc.) to give some sort of familiarization to people who don't watch any of these CBS shows.

No, none of them have been on the main show. I think they made a mistake of not casting any MTV Vets like CT or Wes or any CBS people that have been on flagship like Fessy, Michelle, Kaycee, or Josh. They’re doing a whole world tournament with reality stars from the US, Australia, UK, and Argentina, but no one from the original MTV is going to be on. Having Laurel, Wes, CT, Jordan, Emily or Bananas would at least entice people that watch the flagship to watch the CBS version….

Exactly. I mean, I'm going to watch regardless. But it would've been nice to have someone there I at least am familiar with.

Really really hope they don't ruin this. Could be a jump the shark season.

They cast a whole alliance from one Big Brother season. I'm sure they pregamed and are going to try to take everyone out.... Another reason why I hate Big Brother.

All anyone who hasn't been on The Challenge needs to do is to just go and watch the show to see how things go.
Anyway hopefully this hits the ground running and we have entire new player pools/rivalries/drama/eye candy etc. Also makes the recently hard to watch Survivor and Big Brother a little more watchable as they're now your proving ground. Someone like Jonathan from this past Survivor would be amazing on this. |
Re: The Challenge: USA (CBS) - premieres 7/6/22
I don't get it. 20+ seasons of Big Brother and 6 of the 9 are all from last season. What makes even less sense is Azah was one of the least athletic cast members last season. She basically laid in bed all summer.

Never watched The Challenge but I know it's pretty popular. Only watch Survivor and Big Brother but I think I'll give this a shot.
