Chapelwaite (EPIX - Stephen King S: Adrian Brody)

I searched for a thread about this show and found none. Chapelwaite is on EPIX and is based on Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot (apparently there's a new movie in the works as well). This is a prequel to the book.

Following his wife's tragic death at sea, Captain Charles Boone (Adrien Brody) and his children return to the small town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine, where a dark family history haunts them until confronted.

I'm up to episode 5 and it's really getting good. This is a good view for King fans. Anyone else watching this?

Edit: Can a Mod edit the title to spell King's name correctly? I tried to immediately edit and couldn't. Thanks!

Edit Edit: Thank you!

I'm watching it and enjoying it. It's definitely a slow burn but much better then King's recent slow burn Lisey's Story.

I enjoyed Lisey's Story but I agree this is better.

I think it is, specifically, based on King's short story "Jerusalem's Lot," (included in his first collection of short stories Night Shift) which is, itself, a sort of prequel to the novel 'Salem's Lot.

The short story has also been included in certain editions of the 'Salem's Lot novel.

I caught the first episode during a free EPIX preview last month, and will eventually watch the series at some point.

I watched the first two episodes then decided that the setting and the slow pace were a better fit for my October horror view-a-thon so I'm just going to binge the rest then.

Things are really picking up with this. I think there's only one episode left. This seems like it will make a good lead-in to the new 'Salem's Lot movie (I hope they throw in a reference or two to the events of Chapelwaite, that would be cool).

There's 10 episodes in Season 1. De Vermis Myisteris was episode 7.

yeah, me too. The season has been a classic "slow burn" but I've very much enjoyed it and it's getting really good now.

Is anyone still watching this? Two more episodes to go. I think
Spoiler:
Loa is going to turn on Jacob, give the book back to her father and he will find a way to destroy it. Then the last episode will be setting up for 'Salem's Lot.

I'm caught up through episode 8. I think it's a 10 episode season. I'm in complete agreement with your thoughts.

Just binged this and thought it was awesome. I have not read the short story this is based on but always enjoyed the Salem's Lot book and especially the Tobe Hooper directed mini-series.

Surprisingly, there's no references or foreshadowing to Salem's Lot that I was able to pick up on. I also read that it got renewed for a second season, so maybe that's where they will expand or flash forward a bit.

I'm subscribing to Epix via Apple Channels and it's in 4K SDR / 5.1. If you watch it via the native Epix app it's only in HD / 2.0. FYI
