A little under a year and a half this time. Better than last time.

Hope the last 2 episodes salvage this season. At this point I may just be hate watching it.

I mostly agree but it is not all bad. They nailed Lanfear, Liandrin is a very interesting character and much better than the book version and there are just enough good scenes to allow me to get past the bad. The complete neutering of Rand and the power increases they give to the women channelers is making no sense. Season 2 should have been Rand showing how strong he is but instead he sits there and watches all the women save him. Lots of really poor decisions by Rafe but enough good that I will watch. The buzz is that Season 3 is much more in line with the books and Moghedien is supposed to be awesome. We will see. My favorite books read all of them (outside of the Sanderson books which I do not consider cannon) like 6 times.

I haven’t read the books and was lukewarm on season 1. Was season 2 worth a watch?

Whenever you that sort of thing from Hollywood remember that Women Are Wonderful, men are not. All will then make sense.

If you liked Season 1 enough to consider Season 2 you will enjoy Season 2 as it is much better and then hopefully it will hit it's stride in Season 3

The 1st 3 episodes of season 3 dropped yesterday

I know most here are struggling to keep up with shows that's why the TV forum is so dead.

Again it's an 8 episode season.

Re: The Wheel of Time (Amazon) -- premieres 11/19/21

I just finished up season 2. I hadn’t really planned to watch it as season 1 didn’t wow me but for some reason felt like checking it out.

Overall, from what I recall, it was improved over season 1. You can tell some elements from season 1 came forward and paid off (not drawn out mysteries). I feel like I could both tell it was structured around book structure, but at the same time can see how it would work better as a book. For example, when the one person goes into the arches, I’d be willing to be that’s the end of a chapter with the next focusing on other things. I could then see either an entire chapter dedicated to the tribulation or spreading out each arch into its own chapter.

That does raise one thing I don’t think the show does well. Perhaps ironic, but don’t think it relays the passage of time. I think they mention it, they could use some montages to help convey better.

Generally I feel like the actors/actresses are what let the show down. My general feelings on the young cast:
  • Rand - some good scenes and character, but often feels bland.
  • Nynaeve - just annoying
  • Egwene - slightly less annoying? I probably should have had sympathy for her this season, but barely cared. Her magic guard person had better acting.
  • Matt - I liked the new actor. Seemed to bring more energy than the last actor.
  • Elayne - I liked her as a new addition. Definitely seems the most level headed out of everybody.
  • Perrin - annoyed how he seems the most behind or unwilling to learn, but also seems to naturally pick things up and make smart decisions.

As for the adults I thought Selene added a lot to the season. I didn’t know the twist, but could tell something seemed off. Interestingly I happened to recognize the actress as we just finished a season of CB Strike.

I didn’t like the plot with Liandrin. They had some misdirect going, but also gave you insight into the burden on the ladies and how time takes its toll.

I’ll probably check out season 3 as this was an improvement over season 1.

Okay - season 3 premier felt like an entirely different t show. Not only did the production values seem a lot higher, but it’s like the cast cliques and characters are starting to find themselves.

Also, that fight in the tower was legit.:saber:

I must say this show has found most of its footing in season 3. There are some things that still don’t gel or need improvements, but it’s certainly found itself.

Episode 4 was great for many reasons. One, it focused on one group and followed the story, plus, we finally got some backstory on how most of this started in the first place. They also snuck in some passage of time in the present reference which was good. Otherwise it would have seemed like they walked in and walked right out.

Been a fantastic season. It finally feels like the Wheel of Time. 8 episodes is just not really enough time to be honest. Sadly I suspect that despite extremely strong reviews for this season this will be the last. Ratings have been good but not great.

This show is now fantastic, and here's the proof:

As I said above it’s like this season is a different show - and in a great way. Some things still need improvement, but up and up.

My main qualm this season is how little time some of the story lines seems to be getting. Either way, looking forward to the season finale.

At the pace this show goes we really could use at least ten episodes or more.

Canceled. Reason is money. Unfortunately I was never able to get started with this. Just too many damn things to watch.

Season 3 was excellent but I am OK with it being cancelled. Too different from the books, though some characters were actually better than the book versions. Seems like a property that could get another adaptation at some point.

Would have been nice to at least have one more season to try and wrap as much up as possible. Not completely possible, better then a cliffhanger. All these shows without a complete story are getting old. Why even bother if they can't finish anything.

Re: The Wheel of Time (Amazon) -- premieres 11/19/21

Even in the cancellation poster, Rand who is supposed to be the main character is put behind other people as an afterthought. This is all on the producer for failing either satisfy book fans or grow the audience. It would be if the producers of Lord of the Rings decided to tell the story from Gandalf’s perspective instead of the main characters.

Disappointing, but not surprising. I liked the last couple of seasons. I've never read the books, though, and it was sometimes difficult to keep up with all the different groups and factions and loyalties. I imagine that put some viewers off.
