Will probably wait for it on Max. CW app has too many commercials.

Low-Key but enjoyable first episode.
Here is a list of Easter Eggs. Quite a few.

Re: DC's Stargirl (CW) -- Season 2 -- Premieres 8/10/21

Yeah it was low key, but still good. Basically a reset for a new story after last season's story wrapped. After the extra scene from last season's finale, I am glad to see Joel McHale being brought back again.

So that final little confrontation Courtney had was with Green Lantern's daughter as the promo teased. Interesting. But you have to be a real hardcore comic fan to have caught all those little Easter Eggs as that DC article above teased.

One thing I was surprised to learn Yvette Monreal (Yolanda) is 29 years old. -eek-

Looks like the quality didn't drop any from last season.

Interesting start.

Promising start to the season. Always nice when they drop a name like Per Degaton. I had forgotten that a version of Per Degaton appeared briefly in the first season of Legends of Tomorrow.

It's weird to see The Thinker show up in everything.

This show continues to be an absolute blast for
the JSA/All-Star Squadron fanboy in me. Loved seeing GL’s ring in action and very psyched for Eclipso!

Season 1 was in 4K on DC Universe.

As stated above, this show as well as all DC Universe shows were available in 4K. Doom Patrol, Stargirl, Titans, and Swamp Thing. When the moved to HBO Max only 1080p was available.

I loved it when Courtney's face lit up after Pat told her another old villain has come to town. Luke Wilson was a great choice for this series.

Show still good. Production values still high.

I don't recall that gem thing he girl has. I assume they was last season and something to do with her father?

Re: DC's Stargirl (CW) -- Season 2 -- Premieres 8/10/21

This show is mixing in the horror elements with the superpower elements fairly well. I love how Cindy is becoming aware that whatever deal she made with Eclipso is starting to back-fire on her. Also, that was certainly a pretty final way to write Cindy's mother out of the show, unless her soul is trapped in the purple gem or something like that which means she might still be alive. I forget how the Eclipso story ended many years back in the comic books, but it was an interesting DC crossover and of course there was that cover that had the plastic gem on it that must have been a pain to stack books on a rack and not have the plastic gem damage the covers of other books.

Me too. And more than being an old-school fan, of all the comicbook shows out there, this one is about the only one that captures the joy of the genre. Courtney's enthusiasm is such a breath of fresh air after so many characters on other shows bending under the burden of their powers.

I've said before that this was my favorite show last year. I was afraid it wouldn't hold up this year, but 2 episodes in and it's my favorite show so far this year too.

Love the little things like Courtney going to the House of Secrets Book Shop. Nice tense scene with the Shade.
Lea Thompson did a nice job directing the past two episodes.
Cool seeing Johnny Thunder.

Re: DC's Stargirl (CW) -- Season 2 -- Premieres 8/10/21

This show is wonderful. Speaking of The Shade, I love that he had to resort to multiple shade tendrils to try and yank the staff away from Courtney, but the staff was having none of it and refused to leave Courtney's grip. I also like that The Shade realizes he is not getting the staff and stops trying to do so. The staff seems to be much more powerful than we have seen so far on the show, because I really thought The Shade was going to obtain the staff because all Courtney had was one hand gripping the staff. Cindy is having too much fun with the Eclipso Diamond, but I can't help but feel that her actions are going to backfire spectacularly on her and it will be fun to watch when this happens.

Also, the bit with the staff advising Courtney to hit the books instead of going out for a ride in the sky was hilarious. I like that the staff wants its owner to have more brains instead of trains in her head. Another funny bit, is when she tells Yolanda in her Summer School class that it turns out if you actually read the books it is easy to know stuff, lol.

Stargirl hasn't suffered from the dreaded sophomore slump yet. The budget looks maybe a tick down in scope.

This show is great. This season so far we had Eclipso, Shade, Johnny Thunder, Dr. Midnite and Jade.

The Eclipso effects in this episode were pretty impressive. Looking forward to seeing Jade and the Thunderbolt return.

The Thunderbolt supposed to be from the 5th Dimension like Bat-Mite and Mxyzptlk, correct? But not the same kind of being?

This week’s episode was the best episode of a superhero show ever. Don’t bother trying to change my mind.

I would go that far, but I will say the fight choreography in the school fight was among the best for any show on TV.

Yeah, there's definitely episodes of Buffy that are better than anything that's ever been on the CW, but this was a very good episode of Stargirl. It's definitely the best superhero show that's been on for years.

Best episode this season. 'A'
Good long fight scene between the JSA and the ISA.
The Shade knows how to make an entrance and dress in style.
Eclipso reveals himself. Looks like he step out a comic book.
My one negative is that I am tired of the Chapel Family drama. Get divorce already and treat your daughter better.

This show is so much better than Superman and Lois they’re not even in the same league. The depiction of Eclipso is one of the best I’ve ever seen of a DC villain on screen (including the movies). Puts CG Steppenwolf to shame.

-Looved seeing the team assist each other during that wild battle.
-Stargirl riding the staff around the room during the fight was awesome.
-The Shade is an interesting character here.

What I found interesting is Eclipso said Shade is afraid of him and also gets his powers from him, something I've never heard even inferred in the DCU (and I've read a lot of Starman).

Same type of Fifth dimensional being with slightly different limitations imposed on his powers. Though that is a relatively recent retcon. No one was thinking about fifth dimensional beings when the original Johnny Thunder character was using him and if I remember correctly, Pre-Crisis was a djinn from something called the Thunderbolt dimension.

They do play fast and loose with the power levels - Rick on Miraclo should easily kill a regular human with repeated blows.

Especially if he thinks he’s fighting Grundy. That guy’s head should be mush after a single blow.

I don’t think so either but her parent’s roles are so minor it doesn’t matter very much.

While its cool seeing Eclipso playing his mind games, I was disappointed that took up quiet a bit of the episode
Expecting/hoping the Original JSA flashback would be over 50% of the episode but alas it was about only 15-20%.
Cool seeing them in costumes but no action scenes, All action off camera.
Here is an interview with John Wesley Shipp.
