Ordinary Joe (NBC) - S: James Wolk

Life is all about the choices you make - and sometimes, what you do in a single moment can change everything. This new heartfelt, life-affirming drama follows Joe Kimbreau, who faces one of these decisions at his college graduation. The three parallel stories that diverge from that night find Joe and the people around him with different careers, relationships and family lives, showing the unexpected ways that things change - and stay the same. But when it comes down to it, there is no "right" choice; no matter what happens, Joe's life is always messy, exciting, tough, unpredictable... and beautiful.
I told myself I’m done with NBC, but this just looks too good. Alternate reality/timelines but “normal”. Plus the trailer is giving me the feels!

Just finished the pilot and while I liked the concept....

Pilot review...
Spoiler:
I was expecting a twist at the end. I was expecting a twist that would converge the three universes, but now it's just a TV series that has three different main storylines. It's like the writers couldn't make up their minds about which story they wanted to do, so they said F it, and wrote all three.

I'll continue watching, but the show is walking on dangerous territory with three different storylines and the risk of getting extremely confusing.

I must be behind the times. This wasn’t even on my radar until I saw this thread and since I took the day off not feeling well, I grabbed my iPad and watched the pilot.

I liked it and I agree with you. Trying to keep it all straight is going to take some work.

But it’s a good start. I like their use of colors and beard/glasses/cut to keep Joe in the storylines separate.

Yeah…not sure this is what I was expecting based on the trailer. All 3 storylines are covering very similar territory. I actually found the first 20 minutes quite jarring. It wasn’t until it hit the back half where they seemed to play off each other well.

If it makes it even a few seasons and “finishes” I wouldn’t be surprised it it goes back to the beginning and has a voice over saying you need to make up your own mind. And he’s left standing there with the audience not knowing what he picked.

Will keep watching but am a bit dubious. I’d actually like more dedicated time with each path instead of so many intercuts.

I watched the pilot this morning and it was a good start.

The twist I wanted was a lightning strike during the storm and he gets blasted through the multiverse, and he has to figure out his new universe - different wife, unfamiliar career, etc.

I must be the only person watching this... and I finally got caught up on episodes 4-6 this week.

So far I really like it and I can keep track of the storylines just fine.

If it gets a second season, cool. If not, it was fun while it lasted.

it was cancelled

That sucks and something different on TV that never got a fair chance

I was 1000% in on this when I saw the trailer, but the pilot was tonally different and didn’t grab me. So much so that I never bothered to watch another episode. A shame since I think the concept had a lot of promise.

Really sucks for the actor too. He’s really good, but all his shows get cancelled. 🙁

Are you really disappointed? The show premiered in September and you never posted once in this thread talking about it.

I lied, I didn’t watch anything past episode 1 haha

Sounds like I didn’t miss anything groundbreaking.

I didn't watch this show, but it seems a little shortsighted to cancel a show this week that was created by Matt Reeves.
