Season 1 was a bit disappointing and unfocused. Still, there was some good stuff, and the S2 trailer is promising.

Enjoyed season 1 more than I thought I would. Looking forward to this returning.

I enjoyed season 1 a lot less than I hoped I would. The jumping between timelines without any marker were very confusing and the overall style of the show was too Xena'esque for my taste.

Since the showrunners promised they would de-confuse the storytelling and my appriciation of Henry Cavill's performance, I will give season 2 a chance, but I'm not excited at all.

I can see where Season 1 would be confusing because, as mentioned, you really had no clue that they were jumping between timelines until almost the end of the series. I think alot of people will get more enjoyment when they binge it right before season 2 gets released. I loved it and can't wait for more.

Agreed. My only complaint as someone who hadn't read the books before watching the show was the time jumping and the fact that there was NO clue whatsoever that that was happening for a long time. I'm probably going to go back and watch season 1 again before season 2 starts.

To be honest I thought the same thing. But I just rewatched the first season and it is actually a bit better on second viewing and flows pretty well. It does ask you to fill in some blanks and maybe knowing the overall story makes that easier the second time. I would say I would rate it a 7 first viewing, 8 for second viewing.

They made it obvious in Episode 3 and was sort of obvious even before then with some dialogue cues but it definitely was not overt. If they had used little date titles it would not have really diminished the narrative.

Here's an early review for season 2 episodes 1-6. IGN gives it a 7/10. They're not jumping timelines this season. It appears to be a very linear storyline this season.

Reviews for S2 are significantly better than S1:

I saw the reviews. I wanted to start S1, but didn’t get around to. I suppose got to start with it or is S2 new story?
Cavill is on Colbert this week. I like him. M:I, Man from Uncle, Supes, of course. He’s got charm, dapper, charisma. Not as stiff as I once thought.

You need to watch season 1 first. Cavill is great in The Witcher.

Watching some of the behind the scenes stuff from season 1 and Cavill doing his swordwork is impressive as heck too.

What the fuck. Start shit from the beginning. If you can't do that, don't watch it.

I was hoping to read some early impressions on S2, but guess no one has started it...

Holy shit... what a great start. Episode 1 was pretty damn good. I'm happy this is back.

Re: The Witcher (Netflix) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 12/17/21

I've watched the first 2. Episode 1 is indeed a lot of fun. Kristofer Hivju guest stars and he's awesome. Episode 2 is not as much fun. It gets a little bit more bogged down in lore/plotting and I think the show works best as more of a monster of the week deal. And through 2 eps, I think the show suffers whenever they move away from Geralt & Ciri. That will hopefully change as things progress.

Re: The Witcher (Netflix) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 12/17/21

I flew through this new season over the past two days.

One timeline makes it seem to go by fast.

agreed that it is better when focused on Geralt and Ciri.
