He had such a great career. He can be found in 60's, 70's and 80's TV. I remember him on a couple of episodes of TAGS. Thank you for making my childhood, teen and adult TV watching so special. RIP

I just sang the Love Boat theme song in front of my daughter today. It's one of many things I do (randomly breaking into song) that causes her to roll her eyes. :D

MacLeod was a well loved actor who lived a long life. :rip:

I totally forgot about that. He did a radio interview a couple of years back on GBH here which went exactly as you'd think. Crotchety old man gives abrupt, annoyed answers. It's hilarious.

As a long time and unapologetic Love Boat fan, RIP Captain. That was a nice post from Jill Whelan. He always seemed very likable in real life and in many decades of television roles.

Gavin will always be "Big Chicken" to me. Wish he had more then 2 appearances on HAWAII 5-0.

There's a terrific series of brief interviews with stars of older television shows on you.tube (They're generally two-to-5 minutes long and usually address one topic). In one of those MacLeod discusses "Big Chicken" and his acting process.

They had just done a Stars in the House Love Boat reunion a few months ago. Gavin was still pretty sharp.
